Praying Hard

I'm praying hard for something to materialise.
Its a major step, and I just hope this time, it will be successful.
Pls let me have it my way this time.
If the deal works out, I believe this can be considered a new chapter.

The Interlace

This is an iconic development near Alexandra called The Interlace. I really like the design, and the whole concept of it. Based on the artist impression, the whole place is surrounded by greenery and where it is located, it should be a pretty tranquil. The size of each apartment is also generally bigger than the other condo units too. But whilst I mention about the supposedly tranquility, this entire development has over 1700 units, so its like a village on its own. So not sure how serene it would be really once developed and people start to move in.

No, I can't afford. I'm just intrigued by the design. Something different from the run of the mill condos that pepper our island.

Udders

Just tried Udders over the weekend. I think I went a little too crazy with their alcoholic flavors.
It tasted alright when I sampled but it was a totally different experience when I had 2 scoops of the Orange Choc Bitters & Tira-miss-u.

The ice cream was so not enjoyable after a few scoops. It tasted too bitter, too alcoholic without the sweetness that should accompany ice cream. Anyway, I had to struggle with finishing the ice-cream. Actually, this is the very first time in my life when I didn't enjoy my ice cream.

I shall stick to the usual flavours in future :P

Rich & Good Cake Shop

My sis bought me a box of this cake when we met up for lunch ytd. I was soooo excited coz I've read about their swiss roll from many a food blog since way back. She got me a box of kaya swiss roll. Ok actually she didn't get me. Her temp staff came to office with BOXES of this cake to give away to the colleagues and so my sis bought a box over from him to give to me.
YAY!!!

I have to say the cake is really nice! It has to be kept refrigerated. The texture is really soft and not too sweet. Simply heaven.

But the shop seemed pretty out of the way .... between Muscat & Kandahar Street

Yummy!

Swim!

A very good swim this mrn. Pool was quite empty, and swimming under the early sunlight does make me feel good.

To many more good swims!

Some guy asked me this mrn whether I'm training for a marathon. Huh ? He said he sees me every day at the gym swimming etc. Errrr ... the only thing I'm 'training' for is to burn off the FATS ...
marathon cannot be further from my mind :P
I can hardly run 4km now I think ...

My Latest Fantasy cum Wish List

Am I the only one who is so restless like 99% of the time ?

Lunching in today ... so daydreaming a little before I start the 2nd half of the day ....
Its these things that keep me going really .... (what else?)

1. Piaget Possession

2. Rolex Datejust pearlmaster

Yes, this is definitely a fantasy because no way will I be able to afford this! Or at least to fork out good hard earn money for these. These are way out of my league. But doesn't mean I can't drool over them. Just like how I drool over a Porsche or a BMW 6 series. Haha!

Lunch @ Saizeriya

Was looking fwd to this get-together as I haven't seen the gang for over 7 months. Think the last time we met was in 2009!!!
I've been MIA for way too long!

We met up over lunch and surprisingly the place was quiet and not at all crowded. Happy to see the familiar faces. Everyone looked just like before but Tz lost quite a fair bit of weight due to his 3 weeks of indigestion. A diet of bread and porridge sure helped one lose weight! Am i going to try it ? errr ... nope! I'm happy being fat !
I was so shocked to see A coz she also lost a lot of weight and she looked even more fabulous than before! Good for her! She definitely looked happier and more confident! *thumbs up*
The 2 happy couples still looked very loving together (good!) and Bitch & I still got loads to bitch about together hehe.

It was a very good catch up. We loaded on food (pizza, focacia bread, spaghetti, soup, drumlets) and free flow of drinks (can't imagine the cups of mocha, milo, juices) that we downed!
Our conversations were also free flowing and wide ranging, from races, events, world cup predictions by Paul & Mani, air tix and budget airlines to local news like the recent tragic case of the widow, flood, property prices etc. From C I got to know that there are organised tours to the local cemetries for desperate folks to seek lucky numbers for gambling! Really ?!?!?!?!

Very happy to catch up with this fun gang of people. Thanks so much to T for organising and THANKS everyone who turned up to celebrate A & my birthday in advance!

:)

Monday Bluezzz

Thank God Monday is almost over!

Been a rather productive day.
Ran a short 2.4km on the treadmill. Did an RPM class followed by a short 25 mins swim.
The swim was tough today. Somehow the arms felt like lead and hurt with every stroke.

Work was surprisingly busy in the afternoon with discussions over IM with three separate colleagues. Two on design discussions, while the other on documentations follow-up and audit. Not to mention my own work. I was typing away furiously on my keyboard. But it was a good afternoon and I felt good that things are progressing. *thumbs up*

Not looking forward to tomorrow though. Mtg at 1pm (darn that organiser !). Interviewing a candidate with boss at 6:30pm. I don't even find this candidate suitable! Sigh, don't understand my boss. Waste time.

Heard another tragic news just. So sad. May she rest in peace. Finally.

Has it been this long ??

Is it just me or is 2010 just passing by at lightning speed ?

We are 2 days into July and I realised I haven't been blogging for like over 6 months. Not that I have much to blog really, since I've hung up my running shoes. No, it wasn't really a deliberate attempt, just that I somehow lost the motivation to run.

I looked back at those days when I run to work every Tues and Thurs mrn and all I can do is marvel at myself for my perseverance then. And where did I get that energy ? And to think I even spin after the run ??
And I still looked back to the good old days when I run with the gang. It seemed so long ago it felt almost like a part of a dream. Hehe

I'm not sure when I'll get back to running, or if I ever will, but til then, my running shoes are a constant reminder to me ... that I'm slacking :P

Been hibernating mostly for a while. Only achievement I did was to sign up for a course and get myself certified. So now I can add another 3 characters to the end of my name. Does that help ? I am not sure, but at least I learn something in the course. So I'm satisfied.

May go study for something else, but that depends on whether i can get my act together and stopped being such a bummer!

Realised I didn't stepped out of SG for the past 6 months. So time to regroup and plan my next long vacation. Perhaps Europe ? Perhaps Japan again ? But its time to plan.

Within 1 week, there is news to rejoice, and news that sadden me.
- Congrats to my fav journalist on her getting married. I'm really beaming when I read about this happy news on Friday's newspapers. Did cheer me up a bit. But led me to think what then about my life ? haha silly me.

- the heartbreaking news is when I found my fav guy married also. Sigh. What sad news. Married an NUS lecturer, held wedding in Sentosa. I'm shattered.

Ok, now back to reality.

Pick Me Up-per

She is sooooooooooooooooooooo cute!

Random

You may never thought anything of something until you have it, and all of a sudden, u realise u can't do without it. Case in point, my iphone. I never know it can be such a big part of me, but now that I have it, I don't want to part with it. There are always new apps to play with, to explore, to make your daily life even more interesting/fun. Ok maybe this applies to bummers like me who doesn't have much to look fwd to each day haha.

The inverse applies. Time heals, or in other words, it dilutes. Think only i know what i'm writing, but ok, the old lady just needs to ramble.

Bummer

I have developed a really bad habit in late 2009. I've always been lazy at home, but this laziness has manifested multi-fold in the past few months. My weekends are always a blur of mere eating & sleeping. I'll wake up only for meals and spent the rest of my waking hours in bed either online or reading. Nothing seem to interest me enough, and I'm never motivated enough to leave my bed, much less the house.

The past 2 long weekends just exacerbate this bad habit. I'm officially labeling myself a bummer whenever I'm off work.

Anyway, I just spent the past long weekend immersed in my books. Nothing heavy, but just some books from my fav authors to accompany me (synopsis can easily be found on the net).

Greg Mortenson - Three cups of tea. About one man's efforts (ok, not exactly just his effort, but he spearheaded the whole thing) to fight terrorism with books. Ok he didn't really started out wanting to fight terrorism, but his efforts to build schools in the remotest of regions in the Middle East to repay the kindness of the villagers in his times of needs were commendable. I marvelled at his resoluteness & his never say die attitude.

Jodi Picoult - Perfect Match. Although a page turner, I would not say this is my fav book from her. Coz I didn't agree with the outcome. Well, it was a happy outcome (a surprise since her books always ended with some sad twists) , but the ending didn't sit right. It undermined the whole legal system, and too much about taking matters into one's hands.

Nicholas Sparks - The Lucky One

Nicholas Sparks - Dear John

I'm a sucker for Nicholas Sparks books. Dear John really got to me. I'm waiting for the movie ... which should be out by Feb/Mar. Hope the movie is half as good as the book. But I'm not holding my breath as typically it isn't.

Dear John left me heavy hearted. Time for some light reading

S.I.C.K

This isn't the first time it happens as far as I can recall. I always fall sick on the first day back at work after the new year (either calendar or lunar).
Argh!!! Been feeling under the weather since Sat. Sneeze repeatedly, and then v itchy throat. Woken up several times by the discomfort. Downed several packs of the chinese herbal tea but didn't help much.

And so, I called in sick today.

What an inauspicious start to the year. PUI.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year !!!

Its been 2 months since my last road run, after the ankle sprain episode. Apart from the occasional short treadmill runs before spin class, I've been under utilising my Mizuno & Asics.

The short run today was unplanned and very much a spur of the moment. Slacked for 2 days, and didn't hit the gym at all. Just eat and get fatter. Anyhow, decided to go for a short run at the park connector near my place and also to check on the progress of the construction there (Part of the park was closed to construction few months back).

Construction was still on-going (apparently they are building a bridge to connect the on-going construction of some HDB flats to the market). But thankfully the jogging track is no longer closed and joggers are back in full force. What was once an empty plot of land beside one segment of the track is now occupied by on-going HDB high rises. In no time these flats would be occupied by my fellow neighbours from across the road as those blocks have been selected for en-bloc. I am pretty sure my block would be targeted for en-bloc sooner rather than later. Its just a matter of time.

Anyway, I digress. I was only targeting a short 4km run, since I haven't been on the road for a long time. I started strong, with fresh legs and felt good, and was happy that I completed the first km in less than 6 mins. I guess the treadmill run did help a little and for short distances I could ramp up from my usual 7.5min run to a 6 min run. Of course I couldn't keep up with that pace for long, but i'm not complaining :)
I finished the 4+km run in 25 mins. Really a short run, but I'm glad regardless.

Hope I will find back my motivation to run in 2010.
