Typical Monday Blues and withdrawal from the OBF ... haha .... was feeling really tired, but felt bad coz my friends who organised the OBF should be even MORE tired than i am, so i shouldn't be whining ....
Suppose to go gym but nowadays I really lack the motivation to go gym for my spin class .. thankfully my membership with PF is coming to an end. Will not be renewing. Else it would sure be a big waste of $$$ ...
Teelee wanted to do a 21km run *gasp*, so decided to join him at the last part of his run to do a short slow relaxing run to chase the blues away. Met him at 810pm outside my place and we decided on the spot to run towards AMK (since teelee has already covered the HSP route prior to meeting me - approx. 15km in 1 hr 20mins). His pace was fast today, I guess his "engine" was already all warmed up and hence was running at his comfy pace, was having difficulty catching up with him!
The pace was a little faster than our usual run, but it felt pretty comfortable. Maybe coz the weather was really cooling and refreshing. We reached AMK mrt station and loop back to Hougang for dinner.
Total distance : ~9km
Total time taken : ~1hr 5mins
Had our dinner at Hougang and offset one teh peng for teelee (now still owe him 4 i think, really lost count liao!!!) before we head home. Thanks teelee for the company!!! Felt much better after a run!
*thumbs up*

Operation Birthday Festival
Hahahahhaha ....
I was told on my birthday that the entire birthday celebration (that spans all three days!!!) is actually code named Operation Birthday Festival by Nemo, Roentgen, Teelee & Junie.
hahahahhaha ... so funny!!!
No wonder the other day during the Kovan muay with Roentgen & Teelee, Roentgen was asking Teelee about being on duty on Saturday for OBF! Roentgen said teelee almost choked and broke into a laugh, but both of them managed to keep a stern face. Stupid me never notice anything amiss, and was wondering how come Roentgen so gilat know that Teelee is involved in some operation! And even wondered how come Teelee got to work on Sat!!!
hehehe
This is hilarious!!!
Anyway, the Operation Birthday Festival consisted of:
27 Jul - Dinner at Bathers!! Lots of friends!! Mille Crepes!!!
28 Jul - Dinner then party at Club72 (countdown to my big day)
29 Jul - NDP!!! Fireworks!!

LSD Kovan - Pasir Ris
Did an LSD on Sunday (30 Jul). There was a demoralising run (at Changi Coastal Roads) organised by Brokie, but many of us were not confident in joining that run because it would be too fast for us (with all the sifus *sweat* *pant*) and knowing that the stretch of road there is never-ending, running there would be tooo challenging. Since we wanted to still do an LSD (must start training for AHM), we decided to do our own run. Hence, Taz & Teelee painstakingly (who are more than qualified to join the demoralising run), volunteered to plan & organise the run for us.
715am - Roentgen, Teelee, Superboy, Angelica_wonders, charmane, nemo, Junie, Taz, Cosmic, daisiki and myself gathered at the Kovan MRT. Roentgen & Teelee had met up earlier so that Teelee can park his trusty TLV at Pasir Ris (end point of our run) and Roentgen drove the 2 of them back to meet us at the starting point.

We pushed off after being briefed by Taz about the route. The run was at a slow & relaxing pace and we stopped at the NTUC in bedok 55 mins later for our first water break. We then slowly jogged to Bedok Reservoir Park. Wow! The reservoir is really very beautiful in the morning. Extremely therapeutic just jogging around it, soaking in the morning sights & fresh air.

We took some pics and then carried on towards Tampines. We again stopped for a water break before pushing on to Pasir Ris. It took us 2hrs 45mins to complete all of 18km. But it was a great run! :)
We stretched and cooled down at Pasir Ris, chatting and yakking away and even did a cheers (with 100+) to wish me happy belated birthday (wah!! Post KJ Celeb ??? :P). Took some group photos (and the famous shoes pic) before we walked to the car park
Finally got to take a picture with Taz! I look so happy yah ? hehe
We then proceeded to Changi Village for breakfast (and Roentgen finally got to sit in the fabled TLV!! He looked sooo pleased with this encounter haha). We even met up with the demoralising run group (Brokie, DO, DR, Fernel & Doraemon_red). Had a good chat with them before we had our breakfast.
Later the group of us (less Cosmic) returned to Kovan and the HWA SCSM core team had a discussion on the HWA Charity follow-up. Teelee, charmane, superboy & angel sat in to give us more ideas (thanks people!). By the time we were done, it was 5 and the group was again hungry and so we proceeded to the food centre nearby for dinner, eating the infamous laksa recommended by teelee & superboy.
Finally reached home at 6pm. Wah, where got people go LSD and stayed out whole day ?? No wonder we all were beat!
Thanks for the wonderful company everyone! I had a great run and felt great that I completed 18km!!!! :)
Cheers!

Fireworks!!! I see Fireworks!!!
This is really a birthday celebration befitting a Princess!!! I have 3 consecutive days of birthday celebrations!!!! Wow!!! Who else has such privileges ???I didn't know what plans are in stored for me today. Was only told by Nemo last night, to meet the gang in the afternoon and as it was my bd, to wear red top. He even said if i couldn't find one, to inform him so that he will go buy me one (what an angel, my brudder nemo!!). Meaning I have the whole morning with my family etc. Stayed at home, then was online the whole time, uploading pics from my bd celebration on 27th. Blogged about my wonderful time at Club72 last night. Finally saw Nemo online and was told to meet the white limo at 2:45pm at my place.
Met up with Nemo and Teelee with his white limo (in the form of TLV) at 3pm. I was told to sit at the back as I was "held hostage". I wasn't told where we were going, what we were doing and instead of probing any further, I decided to just relax and take a nap ...and the TLV, with the foam mats, I actually fell asleep until Junie opened the door and in she came. Junie!! My buddy jie jie!! This gal is one hell of a good actress!! She was very calm and yet evasive when I asked her last night whether she would be joining me today. She said not sure. I asked Nemo when I didn't see her in the white limo and he hemmed & hawed and said that my buddy has a medical appt !!! *tsk tsk*
Finally reached the national stadium (ok, someone has unwittingly disclosed the surprise earlier that I'm going to a parade - so i already sort of guessed that I'm going NDP) and after some uncertainty of where to go, we were swiftly whisked to this special parking area after the ushers there saw our parking tag. I was then briefly told that my dear brother Roentgen has sold his soul to get us tix to the show. After going through security checks (like those you see at the airport), we got to our seats - I can only say, VERY IMPRESSIVE, FIRST CLASS seats with PERFECT view !!!!! We were all in AWE .......I had a blast at the NDP and frankly I think Nemo, Teelee & Junie had as great a time too!! It was sooo much fun! Watching the NDP for the first time, LIVE some more, just really made the experience so much more memorable. Not to forget that these tix were not just any tix that you can ballot for, you couldn't BUY it even if you have cash to burn. That's how precious these tix are!!! I just can't smile and thank Roentgen each time I think about all the efforts he had to go through to get me/us these tix!!! THANKS KOR2!!!!!!!!!!!!
The NDP was great, we saw commandos parachuting down from the sky, great performances from the military police (as usual), the various schools, Kaira Gong's beautiful voice, and loads and loads of FIREWORKS that went off right in front of our eyes!!! Yes, I mean, right IN FRONT!!! Wow!! It was such a spectacular sight and all of us could only clapped, cheered and wowed away! I never knew I would say this in an NDP (considering I'm not really patriotic and I don't watch NDP at all - always find them such a boreeee ... zzzzzzz) but I was touched by the parade. It makes me feel so proud to be a Singaporean and it truly pulled some heartstrings watching the parade. Watching this parade also had special significance to us all, because this would be the LAST time that NDP will be held in the National Stadium, before it would be pulled down.
Thanks again to Roentgen for making this possible for me, for allowing me to enjoy my very first LIVE NDP, especially when it is the last NDP in National Stadium. Lots of sweat have been put into getting the tix (will explain more later) and I truly appreciate this, Roentgen!!! THANK YOU!!!!Not forgetting, THANK YOU to Nemo, Teelee & Junie for keeping me company. You all have also put in loads of effort to this. Teelee and Nemo have been busy trying to source for tix over the Internet and they were willing to fork out $$$$$ just to get tix for me!!! I'm just sooooooo touched!!!!!!! Thanks for making my birthday such a memorable one!!! Its not everyyear that I will get 60K people celebrating my birthday with me!! And its hilarious too how whenever we started singing the Happy Birthday Song during the parade, Nemo will sing it to ME, as if they were all singing the birthday song for me. Haha, thanks sharkie nemo!! :P
Now, while reeling from all these wonderful birthday celebrations, I managed gather some information (albeit piecemeal) about Roentgen, Nemo & Teelee had been slogging to make this "Operation Birthday Festival Part III" a reality.
By the time the guys decided to bring me to the NDP (as it coincides with my BD), the tix have all been balloted. Roentgen started hunting for tix from his camp, even going to the trouble of getting the list of people who had tix and going down the list, calling them one by one to see whether they were willing to let go of the tix! (eyes popped out!) When that effort only managed to garner 3 tix, nemo & teelee were trying their luck on the online market, with Teelee constantly . They were already about to get the tix but it was not meant to be as the tix were later sold to a higher bidder. Roentgen finally approached his boss and till now, I'm still not sure what he had to promise his boss (like selling his soul to his organisation? trading 1000+++ more favours ??) in order to get 4 very exclusive tix to the NDP!!! I'm like .... wow!!! None of my friends have ever done SOOOOO MUCH for me!!! Am I blessed or am i blessed ????
I go to bed having this very big smile on my face (for the 3 day counting) and I could only thank my lucky stars for turning my life around by giving me such a wonderful gift - the gift of WONDERFUL friends, the gift of great friendship. THANKS Roentgen, Nemo, Teelee & Junie !!!

Surprise Birthday Celebration Part II
Arranged to meet up with Junie, Junie's boss (Patrick) - whom we met few weeks back when we went Club72 together, and Roentgen for dinner at Szechuan Court in Raffles City. Initially Patrick suggested to go Club72 again but when I asked a few of the folks (nemo, roentgen and teelee), none expressed interest. Was actually hoping to let roentgen & teelee & the sgrunners gang soak in the sights in Club72, but since no one was interested, so we scrape the idea. Didn't know that this was yet another grand plan organised by my friends ..... -_-"
Patrick & Junie picked me up at my office in Patrick's swanky Beemer. Lucky me hor ? (Hey kor2, I like CRV just as much ok ? Dun start frowning now :P haha) Roentgen met us at the restaurant and we had a pretty relaxed dinner, in a rather formal setting. Patrick was chatting with Roentgen and I felt like Roentgen was in an interview, meet the parents session or something! Except that the daughter wasn't there, Junie & I were just like the bystanders! wahahhahaa
Anyway, Patrick once again suggested Club72 and was kinda surprised when Roentgen was pretty interested to go up to take a look (but he insisted it was just for a look see at the views, and maybe try the fries that Junie & I had been singing praises about).
We went up, found seats and sat down. Junie left us to go to the washroom and I was just busy yakking with Patrick & Roentgen when Junie returned with ... Charmane!!! I was surprised!!! Ok, young gals, friday nite, sure very happening one! So i didn't think much of it and just tot wah, wat a coincidence leh! Then Junie asked me to guess who she was with (hint: 4 hunks). I still didn't put 2 and 2 together (stupid rite?!?!?!) and just went along to guess. It was after seeing the few of them exchanging knowing glances that I start to suspect that this was all part .. of ... a ... plan .....
So one by one, I guessed the hunks. First one, cfred. True enough, they started making calls/sms and cfred came up the stairs and presented to each of us gals a rose. I was like .. wow!!!! Next guess, NEMO!!! That is obvious! So cool Nemo slowly walked up the stairs, and again presented each of us gals a different colored rose. Next I guessed Teelee! Again I was right! And wow! Teelee was in a shirt!!! First time !!! Haha, and he oso presented each of us gals a rose. Poor teelee, he must be feeling really pai seh but its ok lah, he needs some "training" in this area so that next time he will be more "smooth" mah hor haha ! The last guess was more difficult, I didn't know who to guess and it was only with one obvious hint from Roentgen that I managed to guess who this di di is. Wah!!! And what a surprise! This di di is dressed in shirt and tie!!! Soooooo different from his usual self!!! Was told that he was told the dress code is "dress-to-kill-kj" and he turned up in shirt and pants. He put on the tie only shortly before mtg me! Wah, really dressed to the nines siah!!!! What a grand entrance di di made!!! haha ... They even called themselves the 4 escorts (led by mei mei-san Charmane) for KJ for the nite and they would be called by "pornfred", "teelee-vanilli" and "nemo-romeo" (since di di wishes to remain anonymous, cannot disclose the 4th nickname). I was later informed that the flowers were bought none other than teelee !!! Ok, good training for him, next time buy for his gal will know better what to buy. hehehe THANKS Teelee for the flowers! :)
Was reallly surprised leh to see all these wonderful people who forego their friday nite to spend time with me!!! I just couldn't stop smiling!!!! This is just soooo FANTASTIC!!!!
The surprises didn't stop here. I was next presented with a very nicely wrapped box of Godiva chocolates!!!! From cfred!!!!! Wow!!!!!!! Yeah, I have been bugging/teasing him for a piece (yes, I said ONE piece hor) of Godiva chocolates since we first talked about it after one of our gatherings when we realised that Cookie worked in Godiva previously. Have been bugging him to buy me one piece for my BD. But knowing him, I knew I wasn't gonna get any .... so was so pleasantly surprised when he presented me with ONE box!!! I tot it was a gift from all of them until Roentgen told me seriously that it was from cfred alone. WOW!!!!!!!!! THANKS CFRED!!!!!
Next was Junie, she gave me a nicely wrapped gift and when I opened it much later, it was a wallet! WOW!!! Junie knew that I have been searching for a wallet but I just couldn't find one that i like. She is soooo thoughtful!! THANKS Junie Buddy jie!!!!
We ordered some mocktails and Patrick ordered champagne and red wine. We also ordered some finger foods like the spice fries (yes! finally can let roentgen, teelee tried the fries that we touted so often), calamari & some sausages. The guys were trying to get me to the dance flr but i declined. But was dragged to the dance flr after we gals went to the toilet, and were hijacked by the guys on our way back to our seats, and led to the dance flr. Haha, I will graze through this embarrassing part since I CAN'T DANCE!!! But was happy to see the guys like Nemo, special appearance di di and Roentgen dancing away. Yes! Even Roentgen!!! He was saying if any of his colleagues saw him last nite they would have just fall flat, pengz! hahahha .... And frankly, i wouldn't be surprised!!!
The "older" generation among us would be excited whenever some retro music came on and we would be like staring blankly everytime some contemporary pop songs that we have never heard of blared the speakers. We would be asking the "younger" generation whether they have heard of the songs etc. It was fun mingling with these young folks haha ...
We continued our drinking and yakking, and had many rounds of cheers, clanking of wine glasses frequently. Even had a tiramisu !!!
When the clock strikes 12 (the gang even did a countdown for me), we were all standing in a circle bobbing away to the music and the gang all wished me Happy Birthday and even got a peck on the cheek by the 4 escorts! Wow! am i lucky or am i lucky. I was very touched when everyone gave me a birthday hug, felt so touched and all I could utter when I hug each of them is "THANK YOU Junie, Nemo, Roentgen, Teelee, Charmane, Cfred, Patrick & special guest di di!!! THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING!".
I went home having this smile that couldn't be wiped off my face. THANK YOU ALL for making this nite super memorable for me. SPECIAL THANKS to Junie for organising this entire operation!!!! I really didn't know that this was planned long ago, with so many of you being a part of this grand plan. I'm just lost for words for your sweet gesture. I thank you for making my birthday so memorable, so unique and so very happpy!!!

Awesome BD Celebration with SGRunners
WOW!!!! .... That's all I can say ..... WOW!!! I'm .... Just .... So ..... Bowled .... Over ..... !!!! I'm like floating now .... I'm like in dreamland .... Is this real ???What's this all about ? Well, I just returned from a birthday celebration, MY OWN bd celebration with the sgrunners and I just had such an awesome time that its close to 1am and I'm still wide awake, my brain still hyper and my heart warm from just the memories that were just created not long ago and now deeply etched in my mind ....
Since this is like an operation, as described by Roentgen, I shall report this as is:-
26 Jul nite : Was informed by Roentgen during the muay dinner to meet up with Charmane, Charlotte, Junie & Nemo at my office pick-up point at 7pm on Thur nite. That he would pick us all up for an Indian dinner with durian -_-" (but of coz I knew he was joking hehe)
27 Jul
7pm : Met up with Junie & Nemo at my office pick-up point. Roentgen came shortly after with Charlotte & Charmane already in the car. We then took off with none of them disclosing where the destination was. Roentgen only repeatedly mentioned about going for indian food and he and Charlotte spent a good part of the time discussing about how delicious indian food is (the naan, curry dunno what -_-") . They were very secretive, one minute we were travelling toward ECP, passing by Marina Square, Marina South Park, and they talking about having dinner at Mac, chicken rice etc and the next minute we were turning back and heading towards the west! I was totally confused and didn't know what was going on, but only knew that we all were getting hungry ... stomachs were growling ... louder ... and louder ... haha
730pm :
When Roentgen turned into Sunset way, I was like ... hmmmm, is there a restaurant here ? Was surprised when we walked to the little shopping centre in Sunset Way and to this little quaint restaurant called Bathers. The group waited for me to enter the restaurant and there in one corner seated in a long table are my friends from sgrunners! I was expecting a few others to attend this dinner but didn't expect such a big turnout! In alphabetical order, we have Andy, Angel, Balasing, Bikerchic, Cfred, Charlotte, Charmane, Cosmic_Wind, Junie, Kay, Nemo, Roentgen, Superboy, Teelee & Tiwazz. A few of the guys in particular Nemo & Roentgen seems very busy organising something, and its only later that I realised they have already coordinated and ordered in advance our dinner so that we do not have to be kept waiting.

Dinner was alright, we had mushroom soup with garlic bread and some very odd tasting supposedly innards kind of stuff (many of us didn't even try it, i took a bite and it was like ewwwwwwwwwwww), salad and then main course of either fish or beef. Roentgen & Nemo know me very well and ordered fish for me, knowing that I don't take beef. Throughout the dinner, I was just having fun yakking and joking with the gang and even managed to pick up the following new terms from them:SQG : Siao3 Qi4 Gui3 (petty)
SL : Sia Lan (hokkien term)
SLK : Sia Lan Kia (hey, one of my fav car is Merc SL500 leh)

hahaha !! And during this period, I still noticed Roentgen, Nemo and sometimes teelee and a few guys busy walking about settling stuff. So like busy bees leh :P

Shortly after dinner, my next surprise came when the waiters came out with 2 Milles Crepes cake with candle on each of the cake. Yes!! not one but TWO of the cake of my dream!!!!!!!!!!! I was like ... WOW!!!!!!!!!!! And they even have a sugared decoration with "Happy Birthday Kickjazz" on it!!! The gang sang me the birthday song and I was like sooo embarrassed and yet very touched!! Later Nemo told me that in fact when he called up to order the cake for my birthday celebration, the owner-cum-chef has told him that the cakes have been fully booked. But the very resilient and never-say-no attitude of Nemo made him talked the owner round. He told the owner that I will be soooooo disappointed if I do not get the cake for my bd celebration, and that somemore I love the cake so much I even blogged about it and helped give them publicity! Wow! Nemo is good man!!! The owner-cum-chef relented and even help to suggest having our dinner at Bathers, which is just a few shops away. This is most convenient arrangement because the cake must be eaten once it has been baked. Wow!!! The group then happily tugged into the cake and everyone seemed to like the cake (but definitely not the extra calories packed into the cake and the fact tat teelee mentioned we can't even burn it off with a 2-hour run -__-")

Nemo mentioned that there were still people joining us for the celebration and I was like Wow!! There are still some more sgrunners coming? Was really pleasantly surprised when IMD, SV and Shut & Eedian (Shut's MHA) arrived turned up! Both IMD & SV came after the RL run and both still looked very fresh!! Really didn't expect IMD & SV to be there! Wow! IMD leh!!!For Shut, he was late coz he was busy whole day with Eedian (his MHA's) convocation. So happy and honoured that all these friends still make the effort to come by to celebrate my birthday though they have prior engagements!! THANKS people!!!! *sniff sniff*

I even received several wonderful birthday pressies!! They are really prizeless as these gifts were personalised and hand made!!! Charlotte made a picture montage laminated and everyone signed at the back of this card .. serving as a birthday card ! Very nice!!! And all the pics of coz will have me inside (cham lah, spoil the whole card but thankfully only i get to see it haha). SV made me a souvenir that I can hang on a wall or cubicle. The gang also bought me a Ben & Jerry's T-shirt!! The one that I had been eyeing since few months back when I was at Great World City watching the X-Men movie with the gang!!!! I'm soooooooooo surprised when I opened up the BNJ paper bag and found the t-shirt inside!! Nemo, its all thanks to Nemo, who somehow remembered that I was eyeing that T!!! WOW!!! THANKS NEMO!!! I'm speechless!!

I had the honour, as the birthday gal, to take lots of pics with each and everyone in the group. Had an individual shot even with IMD!!! Am I happy or am i happy??? And also had pics with Kay and everyone else!! We even got the waiters from Bathers to help us take a few group pics! Only regret is that I didn't manage to take a photo with my HSP / BOH family. :(
I really had a FANTASTIC time, and I'm sure everyone also had fun, from the smiles that are constantly on everyone's face. This is what happens for every sgrunners outing or event. Everyone just always enjoy ourselves. The great company always make each of these gatherings/run/outings so much fun and memorable!
After the picture taking, we bade our farewell and I even got a birthday hug from Kay and Angel!! Soooo sweet of them! I dunno, but I felt very touched by the hugs from these sweet friends. *BIG SMILE*
Teelee drove many of the HSP folks home ... while Nemo and I took Shut's rented vehicle. Roentgen drove Cosmic & Angel to the nearest MRT (or issit home ?). I was already dozing off in Shut's car but by the time I got home and showered, I was feeling really energised and all that happened in the course of the celebration kicked in and I was just in CLOUD 9 ...
Thanks everyone for making this birthday the best birthday I've ever had. I have never had so many friends celebrating my birthday with me. Guess I always just kept many things to myself, even my birthday, so not many people know about it. But this year is really a blast! Thanks all!!! What a wonderful way to cross to the next decade of my life .... hehe ... To many great years ahead, more runs and more happier times! *2 thumbs up*
On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the most positive, below sums up my various mood scale
Happiness Level: 9
Touched Level : 9
Feeling Very Blessed : 9
Before I end this blog, I really want to register my deepest, sincerest to Nemo & Roentgen for doing all the coordination work. You brothers ROCK!!!

Muay Again! Yum Yum!
Last minute managed to arrange a meeting with HWA to discuss with them further about the charity fund raising. A fruitful session because I think both sides have a clearer picture of what needs to be done, who does what etc.
We recognise that we need to move quickly, as we owe all the registered runners an answer about how funds can be raised. Thru pledge cards, appeal letters, this and that. Pls bear with us while we sort out these issues ... *bow humbly*
After that, had dinner with Teelee at Kovan. He wanted to run to meet us at Whampoa but at Bendemeer he was too bored with the run -__-" that he u-turned and headed back to Kovan. Roentgen and I, after the meeting with HWA, went to meet him at Kovan to have the infamous Teo Chew muay. As usual, ordered a lot and had a hearty meal yakking away with the 2 dudes. Even went for dessert at the nearby Selegie Soyabean. Think Selegie soyabean franchises nationwide is doing a roaring business, everywhere u will see a queue forming to buy their yummilicious, soft & silky beancurd.
Was a lousy day, feeling really tired and crappy and even unwittingly pissed a good friend off with my insensitive comments. But my mood lifted while discussing with HWA about the charity event (i totally forgot about how crappy my day was!!!) and after a good meal with great friends, I was feeling all better. Thanks to teelee & roentgen for the wonderful company & putting up with my nonsense! :)
Cheers!
1 more day to the great WEEKEND!!! Can't wait!

Blurry Week ....
This week just passed me by ... in a blur .... not sure why, but been feeling very low (no, not PMS :P). No energy to do anything, didn't even exercise (except for the CBD run) and didn't even have the energy to update my blog ... and basically nothing much to update hahaha :P
Anyway, decided to have a single post to record what I've been up to lately .... just hope this general sense of down-ness and sian-ness will pass me by asap .... and now tat 3/4 of my family is ill, I now have to worry about falling sick .... got to up my vitamins intake (actually "up" isn't the rite term considering I don't take vitamins at all haha) to counter all the germs circulating at home ...
CBD Run - 25 Jul 2006
Quite a non-event. About 30 odd runners turned up. We even have DO and DR "gracing" the event (as they need a recovery run after a hard workout at the Mt Kinabalu recce). Met some people for the first time (gems & eunice).
I'm happy to announce that I got my new shoes (Asics Cumulus 8) that night!!!! All thanks to the two wonderful hunks cfred & teelee!!!! Cfred helped me to get the shoes from RL (as he has 30% off for being a safra running club member). Though he wasn't going for the CBD run, he was very kind enough to go get the shoes for me. I didn't want to trouble him to specifically make a trip down to RL to get me the shoes, since it wasn't along the way for him, but he was really an angel and insisted that it was alright!! I kept asking how to collect the shoes from him but he was really confident that it would reach me by the evening ... hmmmm
Sms-ed him at 630pm about my shoes and no replies ... then to my biggest surprise, teelee came to the rescue and passed me my new shoes!!! So elated!!!! This cool dude refused to divulge how/when they arranged to meet up -__-". In any case, auntie here is very very very happy and feel very very blessed to have cute cool hunks to help me get my shoes!!! Thanks again guys!!!! Milo Dino for cfred and Teh Peng for teelee!!! *broad broad smile*
Will post up pics of my shwee shoes later this week when I'm free....
The CBD runners are now getting faster and better! Now many of them don't even stopped at the Jetty, preferring to continue on with their run. Some of them even went for an additional loop leaving poor mortals like me behind. Was running with Charlotte for the first half of the run (yes, Charlotte!!! This is the first time I am able to run with her considering she is soooo fast and always at the front of the pack! But she wasn't feeling well that night and so I was very lucky to have the chance to run with her). She didn't stop at the Jetty U-turn point, while I stopped for a toilet break. I then carried on with my run with Roentgen and tintin (geez, memory is failing, I can't recall who else I was running with!!!). We caught up with bee and Ronnie (yes, Ronnie! another big surprise that night!!! A speedster who accompanied bee for a run *wink wink* how lucky! How come he never volunteer to run with me leh ??? -__-" JealousJazzy haha)
Bee & Ronnie decided to do another loop while the rest of us continued on. Met Shut along the way, and sxuanjing (who has already did one round with her colleagues!) and we started heading back and up-ping our pace gradually. We passed Angel & Gems running together (aiyo, got to nag at these gals to NOT run alone at night! so dangerous!!! *shake head* - 2 young shwee mei meis running alone is really a big no no!!)
No cakes nor drinks that night. Got to remember to get some 100+ next time. We then proceeded to maxwell for our dinner and I even tried Shut's famous concoction of Banana Shake. Tks shut for the drink! Its very refreshing!! *thumbs up*
Ran with my new shoes. Feels quite alright, comfy but i think slightly heavier than my mizuno WR9. I encountered shin pain (now on my right leg!!!) towards the end of the run. Yah, Taz, I know, u r gonna tell me its the WAY i run, not the shoes :P ok ok, maybe i was pounding the roads tooo hard ... i will remind myself to run softly... must learn qing1 gong1 already.
And this DO & DR ... suppose to be recovery run ... but they still run soooo fast (at least by my standards!!!). They are really amazing and really sifus leh!!! *hail* .... how can I ever be half as good as them ? I'm really impressed but wow, how to push myself to be half a DO or DR ??
Anyone willing to train a stupid, slow disciple like me ? :P

Antidote to the Monday Bluezzz ....
I started this post on Tues, but due to general lethargy, SIAN-ness, busy at work etc., I only managed to have the mood to work on this again today. Ah well ... better late than never! :P
Was feeling really lousy and lethargic yesterday. Had to literally dragggg myself to work . ... I hate Mondays !!!
Arranged to have lunch with my da jie and coincidentally she has wanted to ask me out too (we sure are sisters!!). We settled to meet halfway at Raffles City for lunch. I googled on the Internet and found this Viet restaurant in Raffles City that sells sandwiches so tot to go there and try. However, went to the basement (where the fountain is) and found to my pleasant surprise that the place has been revamped! It's much much more spacious now with lots of shops (counting NIKE, New Balance etc.). There are also now many more eateries (Din Tai Feng, some jap restaurant, pizza shop, a very up market restaurant which i overheard a cute guy introducing to the customer that it is affliated with the White Kate dunno what - i believe is the one at Camden medical centre - and hence no wonder the restaurant is very BO SENG LI).
Went browsing while waiting for da jie to arrive. We decided to try Din Tai Feng, unfortunately the food is nothing spectacular. Didn't feel satisfied eating the meal. Ended up da jie went to this fingerfood shop to buy some really expensive finger food, while I ate a peanut mee jian kueh from the shop Pinle.
Thanks to da jie for keeping me company on a super lousy Monday .... *HUGZ*
Had dinner with Roentgen, again a very last minute arrangement .. at 6pm! haha. Jio-ed Junie & Nemo but both were not able to make it. We just had a simple muay dinner, and the 2 of us ordered so many dishes (that the stall helper got to stop us! :P) and we even went back for second round!!! (No wonder i been putting on weight!!!! Sorry lokun, think I got to stop eating with u haha :(( u r lucky coz u dun gain weight.... hehe)
Think I'm hooked on muay ... its just soooo yummy! *drooool*

Sincerity ....
Received an MMS bd greetings from a friend just before lunch. Uhm, its not even my bd ... *sigh* .... replied with "Thanks but its not my bd".
This is her reply "I know ur BD is on XX. Wanted to wish u in advance bf i forget. ..."
hmmmm .... I dunno about u, but this totally lacks sincerity ... *shakes head until head dangling from the neck*

Colbar Dinner

I went dinner at Colbar on Saturday night with some friends. We have been wanting to go there for some time already, but could never find a time to go. So when one of them sms me in the mrn whether i'm interested to go on sat night, i jumped at the chance as I would be at Holland Village (to have lunch with mom, then settle some financial stuff).
We reached Colbar at about 7pm and the place was pretty laid back. I went there before in one of my morning runs, and so I knew what to expect.

The food was yummilicious (but took a long time to be served! So if you are hungry u will have a tough time waiting!). Some pics of the food .....We shared an egg salad. Char took curry, tiwazz took chicken cutlet, me took grilled chicken.
Another great nite out with just 2 other friends. Thanks for the company, Tiwazz & Charlotte .... :)
Mizuno Wave Run 2006
Finally did my first Mizuno Wave Run just now! Yipeee!!!!Arranged to meet up with Taz this morning to do a slow warm up run before going for the Mizuno Wave Run. Woke up at 0530hrs (barely slept 4 hours coz I couldn't sleep) and left the house to meet up with Taz at 0615hrs at the bus stop outside my place. Timing was really ZHUN as we met up at the same time. Taz was all decked in Adidas, from the sunglasses (how he could run with the dark glasses early in the mrn when the light was dim is beyond me), to his red apparel to his shoes. Wah seh! all adidas, to a Mizuno event! Sure never give face hor ? waahhahahah
We chit chat along the way to Hougang MRT and took a train to Kovan. Met up with the sgrunners at the interchange. Teelee has planeted his TLV there at the interchange as early as 6am so as to secure a good spot for the sgrunners. I believe Roentgen & Sotong did the same. Such wonderful people, I could almost see the halos on top of their heads!! Thanks guys!!! :)
We were chit chatting away, having lots of fun before finally proceeding to the starting line. The crowd was just too huge and we were at the back of the starting line. I was really thirsty even before the run and so I went to take some water from the booth. About the same time the run started and the guy at the booth was like saying to us "Start already start already!!!", but we were like, aiya, nevermind lah, so crowded oso cannot run. We cool as cucumber hor ? :PI started the with Aichai, Roentgen & Junie. Aichai did a very long cycling session yesterday (70Km!!!) and so had to take it easy today and so said that he would follow my pace. I have initially already spoken to Roentgen and know that he is doing a 60-65 mins timing, so I tot it would be best to run with Roentgen, learn from him the pace I shld be running at.
The run was difficult. Too many runners and with only one lane closed to traffic, it was way too packed for us to run. It was almost stuffy to run with the pack and we were running at like 8min pace I think. Still very early on in the race (was like I think 15mins ?) , we already see the speedmonsters running at the return lag (across the road). The first two runners were of the bluetooth origin, and i started looking out for teelee. Soon i saw this guy in grey chioning and upon closer inspection, I confirmed it was teelee and asked the gang whether we could shout across (was worried tat our shouts might distract him). We shouted our best wishes and cheered him on. I tot I saw him smile, but then again, this speedmonster is too fast, so I oso can't be sure .. haha
Thankfully for aichai who was with me all the while, I was able to maintain my pace and ran with him and Roentgen. Imagine Aichai doing his recovery run and running at this kind of pace (*sweat*) and Roentgen recovering from a flu, hasn't run for the past 3 weeks and just resumed running (*double sweat*) and they both were running comfortably at that pace, while I was having difficulty catching up! What is this man!??! I have to really thank Aichai and Roentgen for this run. Aichai, for running in front of me, and constantly checking that I'm still keeping up with him. Without his company I am sure i would have just given up and slowed down my pace. Roentgen for constantly updating me about the pace I'm going, to let me have a feel of what it is like to run at 7 min pace, 6 min pace and 5:30 min pace. This helps me to gauge at what pace I'm comfortable running at. Its great to have advisers like them, extremely patient and helpful to run with me during the run today! I'm sooooo blessed!!!! *smile broadly*
By the 7.5km, I was really tired and took a short break at the water point, as advised by Aichai ("walk through the water point" - so that I have time to catch my breath). I was sooooo not looking fwd to the end of the run as the slope there isn't something I'm looking fwd to. By the time i reached towards the end of the slope, I was completely breathless. That's when Nemo came to the rescue and paced me all the way back to the finishing line. I was really gonna give up if not for Nemo. Thanks brudder! I really appreciate your kind gesture!!!
I crossed the finishing line 1hr 1min 14s after the start. Thanks to teelee who helped us to collect our goodie bag, we chatted and took tons of pictures (the turnout for sgrunners is HUGE!!! So many people and so many unfamiliar faces! But I finally get to see ultraman in person and shook his hand! wow!!!). While hanging around, I also got to try on this new machine, something like elliptical trainer only that instead of moving forward in a circular motion, this one moves sideways, like rollerblading. It is targetted at the lower body, working the abductors (or adductors?), ham strings etc. It was fun heehee and Shut even took a pic of me on it! After loads of photos, chit chat, we finally adjorned to the nearby prata shop (the food court was just way toooo crowded) for our brunch.
After which, a few of us proceeded on to KFC for drinks and some munchies before calling it a day.
A good and fun run! Route is boring but ok, the great company makes everything so worth it. Thanks for the great company everyone! :)

Kovan - Bedok Reservoir Night Run
Left office very early last evening, and reached Kovan mrt at 7pm! 1 hour ahead of our night run -__-"
I shopped at Heartland Mall - there is this area on the 2nd floor (similar to Heeren Annex or something) - made up on small little shops selling apparrel, costume jewelleries etc. The shops were PATHETIC. The clothes they sell are auntie-ish at best and of poor grade. There is even this shop that sells Jap kawaii dresses i think. Looks so psycho if anyone were to be caught dressed in any of those and they cost a bomb! In summary, the place is truly CMI! Cannot Make It ..
Close to 8, met up with teelee (who was with Johnson & another fren having dinner at the food centre) and left my barang in the now infamous TLV (hehe :P). We then met up with the rest at the Kovan MRT. Total strength for last nite : Shut, Teelee, me, Junie, Taz, Superboy, Cosmic & Fbb.
After some light stretching, and constant reminder that I have to do very slow that night (I wanted to cover the distance, regardless of how long it took me), we pushed off towards Bedok Reservoir, passing by some not-so-safe areas filled with construction workers. Superboy even jokingly mentioned that we had just passed the Little India. wahahahahah .... We had our pit stop about 1 km before Bedok Reservoir, to get drinks & toilet break.
Reached Bedok Reservoir (about 7km from start point) 1 hour later. This means our pace is a good 8.5min/km!!! Wow, that is really slow pace, no wonder everyone was feeling very relaxed. Superboy kept to his words and ran very slowly with us last night. Not once sprinting ahead. Sometimes I wonder how they can regulate their pace so easily to run either fast or slow. Taz & teelee too. These speedmonsters really impress me !
We did a small run within the reservoir, where Taz took us thru this sandy patch. I don't particularly enjoy running on the sand and was quite relieved that the sandy segment was short and was about 500m at most before we left the reservoir and proceeded with our jog back to Kovan.
Total Distance Covered: 15+km
Total Time Taken : 2 hours
Thanks to everyone for the great company. Sorry I seem stone last night, think the lack of sleep has taken its toll on me. Also received several phone calls before the run, some friends of mine called to tell me their problems, different problems to manage in the same evening. Too much negative energy transferred in a short span of time, guess i was a lil overwhelm. wahahahhaa ... but ok, after a good sleep, (I woke up at 9!!! *happi*) I felt more recharged.
Meeting my mom for lunch now ... and going to the bank to screw my financial planner later *horns emerging from head*. Gonna try to have a relaxing day today, and a fun Mizuno wave run tomorrow. Hey, I'm going there just for the fun of it, not gunning for any PB. I am constantly reminding myself to go SLOW especially at the start. So don't come stress me hor :P If u r running slow tmr, jio me ok ? *big smile*

Wonderful Dinner with Friends
A friend sms me in the morning asking to meet up for dinner. He needs some company and to bounce off some thoughts with a small group of us. So I went for my gym during lunchtime, instead of in the evening. Did a relaxing run of between 7:30min/km to 6min/km on the treadmill. Covered about <8km in 50mins.
Met up with my 2 friends close to 7. We had dinner at this taiwan porridge in Thomson road. The food is yummilicious! We ordered pork floss toufu, braised pork with salted vegetables, fu-yong egg, vegetables and mushroom with prawns. The serving however was really small and we didn't feel satiated. A friend asked whether we have had enough and I was soooooo glad when we all agreed that the food was hardly enough to be a starter. Hence we ordered a second round, repeating the braised pork and pork floss toufu dishes plus a few other dishes. We had a good talk during the dinner, talking about serious topics and its through such topics that I realise how mature some of my friends are, and how shallow some of my thoughts are, as compared to theirs :P
After dinner, we still didn't feel satisfied so we went Chomp Chomp for dessert. We went Cafe Cartel and had between the 3 of us, 3 desserts: mudpie (which is really really DISAPPOINTING!!!), banana split (normal) and the brownie stack (yummilicious!). Frankly, if I were with my galfriends, they would already been saying that they are tooooo full right after the first serving at the muay place and I would be the only one feeling hungry still and feeling soooo much like a glutton. There is no way I would have been able to order a second round and go for dessert! (In fact we ordered only 2 desserts but we cleaned out the plates in no time, hence we went for a second order of the dessert too! R we gluttons or r we gluttons??? :P) But with these friends of mine, for once I feel NORMAL! That hey, there are human beings out there that eat the way I do!!! Although they are guys, and ok, I match their appetite :P but at least I feel normal and for once I felt good about it! THANKS guys for making me normal again :P
It was good company tonight. Good food and great talk with my friends.
Some random thoughts .... in life, there are many trials and tribulations that each of us has to go through during our lifetime. Some breeze through life while others seem to have it tough. I'm one of those that I guess breeze through life being a common folk, not achieving much but at the same time not having toooooo many horrible setbacks. Meaning in a normal distribution curve of the entire world population, i'm in the mid range of the distribution curve, meaning the common folk. So i guess i have very few life experiences to share and whenever friends have problems to talk about, I'm normally the one listening intently, but having not much to share haha. Anyway my point to all my friends is, whenever you feel unhappy, pls pls don't
bottle it up, dun just hide it under the carpet. It will just eat into you and you will feel miserable, and you will seem to have so much burden to carry on your poor shoulders. Try to find friends whom you can trust, and talk to them. They might not be able to help you, but trust me, when you r burdened with some problems, your mind tend to be clouded, you will not be able to think straight. This is when talking about it, bouncing some ideas off someone will definitely help. Even if it doesn't, I'm sure letting it out will make u feel better. Sometimes we just need to learn to let go. Many things cannot be as before, we just need to learn to accept that it will never be the same, and move on. Moving on is tough, but what to do ? We can either "hanta kaki" forever or we can bite the bullet and learn to move on gradually. We never know what is in store for us. Nothing is for the worse nor better, its just how we view a situation.
Ok, enough nonsense, I frankly do not know what I'm talking about .... its late and I better get some sleep else I will be soooooo zombie tomorrow ...
But I'm soooooooo glad that its finally FRIDAY!!!! Tonight's the 15km run with Taz, shut, teelee, superboy, cosmic and FBB ... hoorah! Just hope I can complete the 15km!! Wish me luck! :)

Mid Week Lo .......
Another hectic day at work. Also dunno what I busy with, some phone calls, some stupid problems with the system, some argument with peepz ... haiz .... work sucks ... but ok, shant dwell on the unhappiness ... it just SAP one's positive energies .... lalalalala
Ok, so during lunch time, I went to Running Lab to try on shoes. Previously gotten advice from DO, DreamRunner & Taz to try Adidas Adizero SN or Asics Cumulus. The former is out of stock so I decided to focus on Asics. I called up before going to RL to check whether they have my size for Cumulus and was delighted to know that Sam (was told to check with him) was in the shop til 3pm! He is seldom in the shop now as he now works part time and so i felt reallll lucky to know he was in the shop. Anyway, tried on the women's Cumulus 8 (newer, upgraded version of 7) and Nimbus. Even ran on the treadmill to try it out (in my office attire! so odd :P). The Cumulus is pretty light but unfortunately their women's size 10 does not give me the one thumb size difference and in order not to risk getting more black toenails, I have no choice but to go for the men's size. The men's Cumulus is red all round, pretty alright lah ... but then people in the know will all know that I'm wearing men's Cumulus! -___-" a bit the pai seh hor ?

After that I had lunch at Delifrance (wanted to be sinful and eat KFC, but no seats at lunch time & i was in a hurry, so ended up at Delifrance, which was pretty empty). As I was in a hurry, I got impatient after about 20 mins and asked the manager whether the food is to be served soon. He was pretty quick in doing damage control and swiftly offered us a fruit tart each - complimentary. A little odd IMO to serve dessert when we were still waiting for our main course! Should at least give us garlic bread or something more savoury ... We ordered chicken curry and fish. The curry chicken was yummilicious but the fish was horrible! It had a really fishy taste... yucks. So anyway, u have been warned if u intend to eat at Delifrance. But I find the food rather expensive. A little bowl of curry with a few miserable pieces of chicken & a bun and that fish in total cost me $23!!!!
Went to the gym at nite for a spin class. Today didn't feel that I have worked out much, maybe coz the session wasn't much of a hill climb session. Did a short run on the treadmill before heading home.
Two more days to the weekend. Shall go bodycombat class tomorrow and looking fwd to the LSD come Friday night. Hooray!

CBD Run
I left the house in a hurry this morning, and only realised that I have forgotten my running shoes when I was in a train!!! Was disappointed in the prospect that I may have to skip the CBD run tonight until teelee came to the rescue and offered to help me pick up my shoes from my place after his morning training! My saviour!!! He is really my ANGEL IN DISGUISE! I can't thank you enough teelee!!!
I left the office earlier to be at the CBD Run meeting point, so that I can have sufficient time to change to my shoes. While waiting, chatted with Divey. She is such a nice and easy gal to talk to! Aichai & Roentgen came at about the same time while Teelee arrived shortly after. I quickly changed into my shoes in the TLV and at about 6 mins past 7pm, we pushed off for our CBD Run.
Great to meet some new faces today (Joey and steerpike). The people who turned up today included Roentgen, teelee, nemo, shut, charmane, superboy, kay, joey, charlotte, imd, alvo, meteor, cosmic, tiwazz, cheow (special appearance!!), doraemon_red, james, aichai, yean yin, bee, sxuanjing, Divey, run3 & cfred.
The folks are getting much faster and in no time Roentgen (who is recovering from a flu), Aichai, me are left behind. We were discussing about the charity event we were trying to organise while slowly made our way to the jetty. Apart from getting faster, the CBD runners are also getting stronger! They don't even stop at the jetty now, everyone just made a loop and carried on. Roentgen, Aichai, myself stayed behind and waited for Kay. We told superboi (who was accompanying Kay) to carry on with his run and we will take the shorter route with Kay back (anyway Roentgen has to take the shorter route back so as not to strain himself. Very well-behaved and disciplined doctor!! Well done! *clap clap clap*) We met James who was late and had to play catch up game to join us and after everyone had taken their break, we proceeded back, with aichai & james taking the longer route while the rest of us (kay, steerpike, roentgen & myself) took the shorter route back to the starting point.
The pace was comfortable and we reached the starting point and we took approximately 51mins to complete 6km. Roentgen finished the run strong and hardly breathless and he was able to hold a conversation easily throughout the run. Well done Roentgen! Welcome back and glad ur fitness level remains excellent!
There isn't any birthday celebration today. Feels a bit odd and something seems amiss without any celebration. The gang of us just crowded around chatting away, with some of us discussing about the charity and how to move forward. We finally left for dinner at Maxwell, occupying fully 4 tables. The group finally disbanded close to 10pm and kind teelee again sent the HSP folks back in his trusty TLV.
Thanks for the wonderful run & company ... :)

Hair For Hope 2006
Since 2003, the Children's Cancer Foundation (CCF) has been organising the Hair For Hope event, where courageous and altruistic people shaved their heads to raise funds for the charity. They have raised a total of $150K through this event. You can read more about this here.
A friend of mine, an ex-classmate, has been one of the pioneers who shaved his head each year to support this event. This would be his fourth year doing it.
This year, CCF included an online pledge that allows donors to donate over the web. If you find CCF a worthy cause, and would like to donate to CCF, and also to support my friend, who has been a keen volunteer with CCF for several years now, pls make a contribution here. No matter what amount you pledge, it will make a difference to a child in CCF.
Many times, I whine and sigh about the unhappiness that I face. Reading about and being explosed to some of the charity organisations always help me put things into perspectives. We are blessed with good health and we can do practically whatever we want. We can jog, and have fun. There are however many people out there who do not get to enjoy such luxury. It saddens me to know there are many kids plagued with life threatening diseases. I've interacted with some of them when I volunteered briefly (and i have to emphasize BRIEFLY) at CCF and frankly, I marvelled at their optimism and their strength. These kids continue to lead happy and enriching life despite their illnesses. These kids truly need our support. So let's do what we can to help them.
Have you done a good deed today? If not, what are you waiting for ?

SHAPE Run 2006 (Part II)
Upon collecting our goodie bags (contents of which I will reveal later ... hehe), we bade our goodbyes and a couple of us (Roentgen, Shut, Junie, nemo, cfred, cosmic, teelee, charmane, tiwazz, alvo & meteor) headed to Suntec for some retail therapy. First stop was at NIKE B.I.R.D. Roentgen & Nemo found something for themselves, but none of the rest caught anything we like. Had a pretty lousy experience with the sales stuff in NIKE B.I.R.D. Totally unfriendly and unwilling to help. Asked them to check for sizes/color and they basically just so reluctant to do it. Even had difficulty with the counter gal when I tried to place an order for Roentgen for his Nike singlets at Marina. Anyway, I don't wish to be reminded of the unhappiness so will just glaze over this, and not elaborate any further.
;P
Didn't find anything we like, not even at Adidas, so we decided to head back to Marina Square NIKE B.I.R.D. Nemo and Roentgen got their stuff there and the few of us (less tiwazz, alvo, meteor & cosmic) whiled away our time just loitering in Marina Square. Having tea break at Kiliney (Angel joined us there) and we chit chat for a bit ... We seemed so much like a bunch of young kids simply enjoying our life, not having a care in the world. Its interesting to see how we, people from different walks of life, of different age (some of us many generations apart!!!), chatting away happily, sharing our tots etc. We don't seem to have a huge generation gap! I even feel young just hanging out with some of these young folks. Even get to understand how they feel, how they view certain issues and even learnt some youngster-speak (AA = Attract Attention).
We then headed to Running Lab so that Teelee could pick up his new shoes before the remaining 6 of us (Roentgen, Junie, Nemo, Charme, Teelee and myself) drove to East Coast Park Food Centre to tuck into the yummilicious wanton noodle. The gluttons in us also ordered stingray, BBQ chicken wing, rojak, tau pok & fried carrot cake. The food was good, but most importantly, the company makes the whole dinner experience must more enjoyable!
The group finally dispersed by 9 and Teelee once again was angelic enough to send the HSP folks home.
Got home and took some pics of the SHAPE run goodie bag. Wow! They really packed A LOT of goodies into one compact bag! Well done!! The guys are sooooooooo jealous that we got so many things from a $15 run. hehehehe .... The men dun get it .. :P

SHAPE Run 2006 (Part I)
To mark SHAPE magazine's second anniversary, SHAPE organised a women's only run and it was held yesterday, 16 Jul 2006.Many of the sgrunners, including myself, registered for the 10km event.
Teelee, our ever trusty-professional-runner-cum-transport-provider, picked up the HSP folks early on Sunday morning. By 6:30am, with Junie, myself, Shut, Charmane, Superboy & Nemo in the TLV, we proceeded to Esplanade to meet up with the rest of the sgrunners. Meeting place: Esplanade Food Street at 7am.
At the Esplanade car park, we met Dreamrunner & his MHA. DR was there to support his wife who is running the 5km run.
There was a huge turnout for the sgrunners and the gals taking part in the run are:-
IMD's MHA-to-be (yihua), miffy, bikerchic, charlotte (a very big THANK YOU to char for helping me to collect my race pack!) , divey, penguin, bee, brokie, leh-lio gal, bbmon (wow! finally get to see her in person! too bad never get to introduce myself to her, she is like a celebrity in her own rights!!!), meteor, run3, tekko's MHA ... (and many many more!) Oh, and not forgetting Ripley, who despite still recovering from her blisters and walking with a slight limp, turned up to support us with her ever trusty camera!
The sgrunners boi bois that turn out are just as amazing, with IMD, shut (lugging 2 cameras and looking really tired after the WHR just the day before!! Hey thanks man for coming to support even tho u r sooooo tired!!!), teelee, superboy, nemo, tiwazz, hedgehog, renoh (both hedgehog & renoh already did a 18km run prior to meeting us !!! *hail*), alvo, tekko, Dasher (looking super pro with tripod and all), cyberkinetics (who turned up in pink to match the pink poms poms he made! WOW!!), cosmic (who skipped his morning class to come support us !!) and roentgen (who really needs his rest, been working 3 weeks non-stop, and yet turns up to support us).

There were 2 categories to the run. The 5km and 10km one. More participated in the former than latter and the latter were flagged off first, followed by the 5km runners about 10 mins later. Tho it is my 2nd event, I find the atmosphere disappointing. The music wasn't blasting from the speakers, the MC was pretty flat. Basically just delivering announcements to the crowd, instead of psyching the crowd up for the run. 10 mins before the run, they actually had someone on a makeshift stage showing us warm up exercises (more like aerobics). We were already packed and having difficulty moving our arms and they wanted us to do aerobics ???? The warm up are pretty lame anyway and after a while I just gave up trying. The 5km runners are a little more ON, dancing to the music. I was with charmane, junie and bikerchic and we were just yakking away while waiting for the time to pass. When the horn finally sounded, Junie and Charmane sprinted forward leaving me and bikerchic behind. I told biker to go ahead without me and soon I was alone. Thankfully I had my ipod with me and I just put on my earphones and started my run.
Guess being inexperienced, I wasn't able to regulate my pace. In a bid to not fall too far behind the gals, I was running at too fast a pace too early into the run. A check of my HRM 4 mins into the run and i was hitting 87%! Not too good. Along the way, met sxuangjing & penguin, bee. Saw Yihua & Divey in front, within eye shot .... 20 minutes into the run and i was feeling tired! My legs were getting heavy and I was starting to worry.
Passing the stadium and on the return leg back, I saw Divey walking. After finally catching up with her, I asked whether she is ok. She replied No and that she is in pain :( oh dear .... She explained that in her rush out of the house the morning, she forgot to take her painkillers and now her ITB hurts. I was worried but there wasn't much I could do. I tot of running back (not as if i can run fast lah! but at least in whatever speed i can lah) to get her her painkillers, but she mentioned she didn't even bring her painkillers. Not knowing what to do, i decided to just accompany her back just in case she needs help. Frankly I do not know what I can do to help but I just felt better knowing at least I'm with her. Anyway I'm not gunning for any timing nor PB ... and not as if i can run any faster! hahaha
Along the way, I saw this guy ran past me (was a little shocked to see a guy in the run!), he was keeping a gal company and even dousing her with water. Wah! good support siah! Sxuanjing & penguin passed us near last 2km mark and after a bit of chit chat, they proceeded on.
I have to say I'm most amazed with IMD! I saw him at several of the points along the way cheering us on and taking our pics. Its amazing the efforts he took just to run around to position himself at various spots just to help take our pics & support us. When you are feeling exhausted and wondering how much longer, it is good to see a familiar face cheering u on and giving u the moral support. Now I understand the importance of support! and Yihua is soooo lucky! :)
Towards the end point, Divey and I saw our sgrunners boi bois cheering us on, clapping and motivating us to go on and taking our pics. We really felt like celebrities and the support given by these guys are just SIMPLY AMAZING!!! I'm just bowled over!!
Finally crossed the finishing line 1hr 6 mins later. Not too bad by my standard considering I took a pretty leisure pace for half the distance. I read Divey's blog tho, and to her this timing is "v bad timing" ... oops! hahaha ... ok lah, different standards :P
The helpers were giving out water to us (relish!!! as I didn't take any water at the water point) and we even had kiwi! Yum yum! After cooling down, it was then photo taking time. We took a lot of pics, with the fellow sgrunner gals, and then with the supporters. Think we sgrunners had the biggest group of supporters and there were just so many cameras to smile into! It was really fun!
I also had the opportunity to meet up with several new faces like yuuinja & tooty. There are many veteran sgrunners like spiffy that was there but I didn't get to know who that was. Wasted! Talked to her over the shoutbox before. Ah well, another time then ...
While yakking away, some of our wonderful boi bois went to the carpark to collect our barang from the cars. (WOW!!! We felt like princesses leh! Was soooo surprised to see the bunch of guys carrying our barang up to us ... THANKS GUYS! YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST!!!)
We took a few group pics (what a big turnout! everyone was like looking at us!) before proceeding to Marina Square to collect our goodie bag. Horrors of horrors, the queue was soooo long and it was snaking all the way out to the open area outside Marina Square! We decided to fill our stomachs first (lest a few patient gals who decided to queue to collect their goodie bags first) before returning to collect our bags, and hence proceeded to the food court above to have our fill.
This blog is way tooo long and messy I have to say, anyway, I will continue Part II of how my day went later.
Stay tune ...

Midnite Mizuno Wave Run
Knocked off at 630-ish yesterday and had dinner with my friend. Wanted to have a good meal (Aiya, thanks to Roentgen lah, for telling me about all the good food that he wanted to eat, my stomach was churning so hard by 530pm!) but due to time constraint (wanted to do some shopping and get home to prepare for the midnite run), had to settle for simple hawker fare (good for my really flat wallet - shopping too much lately! :P)
As planned yesterday, I managed to do some shopping at the People's Park Complex. Ok, after the revamp, was thinking there might be more things to shop. Quite disappointing. The clothes all look similar from shop to shop, and materials are of pretty low grade. Only managed to get one top from there. Dun tink I'll be heading back there anytime soon.
Reached home around 10pm, washed up, changed and was out of the house at 1030pm. Got to Kovan before 11pm and met up with Teelee, who already started his run an hour and a half earlier and has covered the Mizuno wave run route + 4km. He even had time to go back home to wash his shoes (which were soiled during his earlier mizuno wave recce run) and changed to another pair! Shortly after, Superboy & his friend, Bryan, turned up. While waiting for Shut & Charmane (who sms teelee to say they were running late), the four of us just chit chat away in the vast Kovan bus interchange, doing some light stretching. Found out that Bryan has a fracture on his ankle and had an operation and hence was down for several months and tonight marks his first run after recovery.
Teelee briefed us all on the Mizuno route, repeatedly reminding us about the puddle of muddy water along a stretch of the road (which is the stretch that soiled his beloved shoes), the 6 of us pushed off for our run. The route is sadly very boring, just a straight route down and back. At night, the pavement wasn't brightly lit and not well kept with tons of tweaks / branches and leaves. Hence it makes running there boring & difficult as I got to constantly watch the pavement for anything that might cause me to trip & fall!
Superboy & Bryan led the run most of the way, Bryan is amazing! First run after so many months of downtime and yet he could run 10km without breaking a sweat and leading the way with Superboy! Teelee was covering the back with charmane, to ensure that everyone was ok and to tell us the route we got to take. I was running with Shut in the middle (wah, feel very protected leh, got 2 runners at the front, 2 at the back! I felt like a VIP siah!!! hahaha). The pace was actually pretty fast for me, although I know that pace is rather slow for Superboy as I have seen how he followed the front pack for the CBD & HSP runs. I was getting worried whether I could complete the run at that pace (frankly, it isn't fast lah, like 6:30min pace, but just that I'm more used to running slow ...) and at one point kind teelee even asked whether the pace was ok with me (so nice of him! ok, but was he asking me or shut or charmane ? but shut & charmane definitely no problem running at this pace lah haha - so the qn should have been posed to auntie). We U-turned at the 5km mark (the same place where the mizuno wave run route will u-turn) and headed back. The run back was alright, a little faster, but the motivation of all the sinful food (prata! teh peng) awaiting us at the end point just helps to keep me going :P The final leg (at the Kovan bus stop) was a mild upslope and though it was gentle, it was really a killer by then! I was sooooo struggling to go up that slope and was cursing under my breath! Bryan was really accomodating too, slowing down to talk to me and even assured me I'm doing well (such a nice boy to console an auntie!). He was modest and said that he was trying very hard to catch up and that he was really out of breath, yeah right! In split seconds, he was again sprinting with Superboy right up ahead *slit eyes* ... so much for being tired hor .... *sweat*
Total time taken : 1hr 16mins (including rest break at the u-turn mark, traffic stops etc.)
Total distance covered: 10km
We cooled down at the starting point at Kovan bus interchange before proceeding to the only 24 hours malay stall for our supper. Shut & Teelee (who did not have dinner! how could these people survive without food?!?!) ordered their pratas and teelee ordered a plate of indian rojak to share among us. All of us (except for the disciplined charmane) couldn't resist the temptation and eagerly tucked into the indian rojak. We had a good time chatting before leaving the place at 1:40am to head home. Superboy took Bryan's car back. Kind teelee as usual sent Shut, Charmane & me home, although he had to be home by 2:30am to start his work day with his mother! Really a gem this teelee! Thanks for driving us home !!! *2 thumbs up*
Overall a good run, at least I know I can complete the 10km run tomorrow at the Shape Run. Albeit slowly but that doesn't matter. Shape Run, here i come!
PS: Lets hope the run tomorrow isn't as badly organised as the registration! If it turned out to be one chaotic run, I'm soooo not gonna be participating in their future runs!
PS2: Also registered for the Great Eastern Women 10K run !! Hooray!!! Company sponsoring bulk of the registration fees. Was told by Charmane that the first to 10th places in the run will get a Tiffany plague or something with few hundred buck cash! No wonder the registration is soooooooo ex! They are milking us to pay for the prizes! What audacity! If not for my company's sponsorship I wouldn't have even considered paying $35 for a 10km run (unless goodie bag has a Tiffany diamond inside!) hehehe
Ok, enough blabbering for now .... will try to go back and koon now ...
Relaxing day at home for me .... ahhhhh .... heaven! :)
