Atypical Run

I think I'm seeing a pattern.  Each time I'm going away, my body somehow will subconsciously shut down which effectively affects my form.

Run today is bad to say the least.  I was so winded that I had to stop several times to walk.  And for the first time, I had to stop to buy myself a drink at the 7-11 coz I just felt so dehydrated.

Though I managed to finally run the usual Tues distance, but it was about 5 mins slower than usual.

The only thing I dread about holidays is the disruption to the daily exercise routine.  I'm so going to lose whatever fitness I've built up.   The thing is, one gets comfortable with the slacking that sometimes it is hard to get back the momentum.  That's what I dread :P

Alright ... total distance about 12+km 1hr 30mins.

Hope for a better run soon!

Crap Run

Woke up late and decided to dump my stuff in the gym before heading out for a run.

My body just wasn't co-operating today right from the very first step.  I felt tired, breathless and totally out of form.
By the time I got to South Buona Vista I was feeling too winded.  After 30 mins of struggle, I decided to call it quits and walked back towards NUS.  Spent a lot of time walking.  The air is stuffy and still today, it still looked quite hazy.  The dust particles in the air probably hasn't cleared.

Anyway, a very lousy run today.  As good as not running.  Think I cover at max 6km, but all the walking and all took me over an hour.

Nevermind, till the next run.

No LSDs for the next 2 weekends ... ho ho ho... I'm so in trouble for my next LSD *shake head*

And so I decided to make up for it with a swim ... got to the pool and realised that there was going to be a class starting in 10 mins!  Typically the pool would be closed during classes.  I asked the instructress whether the pool would be closed, she kindly suggested I can keep to the side of the pool.  So I started swimming, but as there was another lady who came before me, the side lane got a little too crowded for both of us.  10 mins later I decided to call it quits.  So ... lousy start to my Sun.  Heaven's will ba ... to slack, eat, get fatter!
hahaha

ok, time to continue readin ...

Happy Valentines Day!

I'm so glad that V-Day falls on a weekend this year!  So I'm happily hiding out at home, not having to be out (at work) and having to "suffer" seeing everyone all lovey dovey, receiving flowers etc.  Haha ... nope, not jealous, just a little embarrassed :P

Anyway, I'm happy for this day to wish all my friends and family a Happy Valentines Day!

Thanks for the wonderful friendship, the care, concern, love, humour, fun, jokes, runs shared .... Life would be black & white without you all :)

May all of you enjoy this day with your loved ones.  And for those like me who are single, enjoy this day too and say a word of Thanks to the wonderful people around you :)

Thur Run

5 hours of sleep.  Am sooo glad I managed to wake up for the run.

Didn't realise it rained until Mom told me so.  Indeed the ground was wet.

Since I skipped the Tues route, I had to cover that distance today.

Not a bad run.  Weather was cool and helped in the run. But realised that I cannot be lazy and not tape my left feet with the bunion problem coz my left toe will start to hurt.  Thankfully the pain didn't last for the entire run.

Enjoyed the run.  It helped to wake me up.  About 12+km, 1 hr 25 mins.

iPod-less Run

Overslept due to another sleepless nite.  Woke up at close to 3 and couldn't get back to sleep til 4+ so naturally I couldn't drag myself outta bed when the alarm went off at 5.

When I finally jolted awake, it was 10 mins to 6.  I had only that few minutes to decide whether to run a short one, or to postpone til tomorrow.  Finally decided to head out for a short run.

Did the usual thur route, without an excess distance.  Should cover about 9+km.  1hr 3mins.

Relaxing run.

And I'm glad I'm gradually getting used to my cumulus.  Yay!

Oh ... and why I said ipod-less ? Coz my earphones have been acting strange for a while. It had to be plugged in a certain way for the sound to be heard and sometimes the sound got distorted. By Sunday during the Sundown LSD, one side of the ear phone case had decided to detach itself from the insides. Time to change a new pair or buy a new ipod. Whichever is more economical ... (yeah, coz i think the earphones aren't that cheap either)

Sundown LSD

I finally managed a run in the evening!

The pig woke up from a nap (which took place right after lunch!!!).  Woke up and did some reading and mind was constantly bugging me about heading out for a short run.  To feel less guilty about the lack of LSD this mrn.  Whatever resolve to run dissolved when I received an sms telling me that it looked like it was gonna rain.  What convenient excuse right ?? Anyway, after much internal struggle, the guilt won and I quickly changed and decided a short run just along the canal / park connector near my place.

Towards the second stretch of the park connector, a father-daughter ang-mo pair overtook me.  I didn't think much of it since that's the norm anyway, but I later easily overtook them again coz they must have slowed down.  That seemed to trigger some competitive streak in the pair coz at the return leg, they tried to overtake me again but to no avail.  As I slowly trotted on, suddenly that daughter started to pick up pace to overtake me.  Judging from her running, I knew I could easily increase my pace a little just to maintain that lead.  I thought that was the last of it when few minutes later, she again pranced right beside me and started to take the lead.  Since this auntie had managed to overtake her the past few times, there isn't a reason why I can't continue to do so.  So again I picked up speed and easily left her behind.  That was the last I saw that lad ... haha .... yes I know.  Not only am I a bitch, but I'm such a bully.  Ok, to put things in perspective, that lanky kid is almost as tall (if not taller than i am) and prolly in her early teens.  But guess I just didn't want an ang mo to win me (haha yes, that racism is rearing its ugly head again :P)

So anyway, 6.6+km later,  I decided I was well enough to do a longer loop.  So decided not to head back to cover the remaining 2km, but to continue towards Ngee Ann.

Rest of the distance shown in map below.

Since I started the run only at 10mins past 6, light was fading fast by the time I got to Bukit Timah.  There was also a slight drizzle but it helped cool the weather down.

The stretch along Evans Road and Cluny Road was quite deserted.  Thankfully for the cars that whizzed past, I didn't felt so alone in the dark.  Kinda nerve wrecking to run that stretch at nite, alone.

Total distance about 20km.  1hr 20mins.  Damn getting slower.  But nonetheless, am happy for the run.  Yay!

Weekend ... so far so good...

Had dinner with my 2 hilarious colleagues on fri nite.  One is back from London for home visit so we took some time to catch up.  This funny guy had me in stitches with his funny annecdotes & gestures.  Great company ... too bad it had to end early because of his some other prior engagements.

Later had dessert & drinks with another friend in Raffles Hotel.  Dessert at Seah Street Deli was disappointing.  How dare they charge so much for 2 small pieces of chocolate cake (which they claimed as brownies) and a miserable scoop of nondescript vanilla ice cream.
Eeeks.

And I think its the last time I would go to Long Bar.  The live band can only entertain people of my parents' age and before.  Drinks were of course exorbitant.  I pay $20 for a tin can of Kilkenny.  Geez.  Ok, but we finally tried Singapore's famous drink - Singapore Sling.  What's the big deal ? I seriously do not know.

After that somewhat disappointing experience at Long Bar.  We were basically hoping places.  Went to the Loof - a drinking place on the roof top of Odeon Towers.   Really nothing much so we left without a drink.  Not sure what got to me but I then agreed to try out St James Powerhouse.  Aiyo a place that had been there for ages, but a place I have NEVER been interested in checking out.  Nonethess, went with the intent for me to "explore" the place and up my HIPness factor a wee bit :P

Places like dragonfly, firefly and what nots that play hokkien and canto-pop are seriously not my interest.  Beats me why there were young adults queuing up to enter dragonfly.  Finally we hopped to Movida where we thought we could agree with the music.  Place turned out ok.  Music was alright.  SADLY, the only person whom chatted me up that night was a gal!!!! AIYO, what a disappointment!  Cover charges for St James : $20 for men, $15 for ladies.  Cheap.

Sat mrn was spent in the gym swimming and spinning.  Good workout.
Then finally placed a deposit at the travel agency for my upcoming holiday.  YAY!!  So happy!

For the lack of sleep from Fri nite (only managed about 3 hours), I crashed at 7+ on Sat nite.  So tired I couldn't drag myself out of bed for my LSD this mrn.  Convinced myself that since I'm not training for any event, I could afford to slack.  Argh, hope I don't use this excuse too often!!!

Enough slacking, LSD next week!

Thur Run

A short one.

Usual thur route with a slight slight slight addition of about few hundred meters i think

1hrs 10mins. 10km.

I wonder the mileage I have to cover to compensate for the CNY junk :P

Tues Run

*sigh* .... as much as I was very enthu about the new year, it hasn't started off very well.

Don't wanna go into details ... but let's just say Heaven is testing my resolve to stay positive.

Anyway, had some slight difficulty waking myself up this mrn.  Though I was subconsciously awake but physically still wanted to sleep just that wee bit more.  Pulled a muscle or tendon while trying to get up and hurt my right shoulder.  *sighhhh*

Couldn't stretch my right hand too much, nor rotate my shoulder .... need to go for a massage if i don't feel better by tomorrow ....

Anyway, did a slow run .... truly slower than usual based on my timing ... but just about 2 to 3 mins slower.  But I feel good throughout the run, tired but manageable.  Even able to run my usual Tues route, with mild inclines and longer stretch.

1 hrs 24 mins 12+ km or 13km.

Good run.

Buangkok Revisited

Happy Ren Ri!!!  Wishing everyone a very happy lunar birthday! :D

Today is also my sister's lunar birthday and so we had arranged to celebrate this joyous day at her place.

A plan was thus hatched to run from home to sis place @ Buangkok.  What better way to complete another LSD and have the motivation to get to the desired destination ?

Started off at close to 7 and headed towards MacRitchie.  Not sure which route to take past MacRitchie but the ever-"confident" DR decided to just "go-with-the-flow".

I could either take Bishan/Braddel but ended up towards Upper Thomson.  What could have been a comfortable LSD that takes about 2 hours max took me 2hrs 37 mins as the DR got ridiculously lost in Ang Mo Kio!!!!!  Yes, I know ... its ridiculous how I could get lost in AMK.  At one point I got so frustrated with the retarded me I almost gave up and wanted to just hop into a cab.  But I was so pissed that I told myself I just had to find my way by foot since that's my aim for the day.

Needless to say, I am so dumb and embarrassed with myself I dun even wanna plot the route I finally took.  I think it would just show me running in circles and taking countless detours -_____-"

Anyway, finally got to the destination in 2hrs 37 mins, total distance covered should be 21km.

To my family & friends who are non-runners, they found it absolutely amusing that I actually did run to Buangkok.  Having said that, they were more tickled by my utter lack of the sense in direction.

Oh well .... my brain just isn't developed in that department :P
