Birthday Celebrations

Birthday celebration for Loti & I was at Margarita's @ Dempsey Hill. Wow wow!!! Just read yesterday's paper and realised that this is one HIP place to be !! That reservations must be made 2 weeks in advance and the owner had to turn away guests due to the lack of food in the kitchen!

The last time I was there was many many years ago. Have tried both the one at Faber Drive & East Coast. Also read in the papers about not so good service at the Dempsey branch just few weeks back, so was surprised that they received a positive review so shortly after that earlier report.

Thanks to Roentgen who gave Loti, Angel & me a lift to Dempsey Hill. When we got there, Teelee, Taz & Renoh were already there viewing some pictures. So happy to see the bois !! :)

Margarita's
@ Dempsey is HUGE!!! Loti told me that it once was an army barracks, hence explained the size. It has a really tall ceiling ... the place was simply decorated & the dim lights made the place cosy (but definitely not good for photo taking! :P)

We spent quite a bit of time yakking and didn't place our order until this stern looking waiter beside me asked me whether we are ready to order, and that to order before the kitchen couldn't handle the load -___-" Wah, first time I have heard such a demand! How "refreshing"! We hastily browsed the menu and tried to make out what to order amidst the tortillas, burritos & fajitas.

Poor Teelee was suddenly called back for mobilisation exercise! What a downer and had to leave without dinner. The dinner was alright. The food was served in the reverse order it was ordered! JT's & Tigger's dishes came shortly after it was ordered though they came late and placed their orders last haha ... Mine came unfashionably late though I was the first to place the order ... but I didn't really mind as I was just enjoying the company and oggling at the food in the others' plates :P Angel wasn't that impressed with her food, and me too. It wasn't that fantastic really. Perhaps mexican food just isn't out thing ... Angel said it is high class taco bell hahah ....

The gang got
Loti & I a very very yummy cake from Angie The Choice. It was very soft and delicious and we all enjoyed the cake tremendously. As I had been raving to Loti about Margarita's tiramisu, Loti was keen to still try the tiramisu after the cake. So we ordered one tiramisu for the whole gang. However, the tiramisu turned out to be a HUGE disappointment! It wasn't how I had remembered it to be (apart from the look) and the tiramisu wasn't well put together. Loti scooped up a whole chunk of the ladies finger ... it was still dry and not soaked with the alcohol/kahlua mixture. Very very disappointing ...

Cool dude Teelee managed to rush back from his mobilisation and joined us back at the restaurant. We had left one big slice of cake for him and he steadily cleaned it off. THANKS for re-joining us at the dinner! Great to have you back to join in the fun! :)

Many many THANKS to Roentgen for taking time to organise this birthday dinner bash for Loti & I. Know that he is very very busy lately with work and all, and yet still managed to make a reservation at one of the popular restaurants in town right now, and getting everyone together ... really appreciate it lots!!! And THANKS to Angel, JT, Renoh, Loti, Teelee, Taz, Roentgen, Little Tigger for spending your precious Sunday evening to celebrate for Loti and I, not forgetting the beautiful card & gifts! *BOW* The card is now pinned on my whiteboard just to cheer me up on my daily work-day. THANKS people! :)

Smile for a Mile

I started my birthday with the charity run organised by this group of young college students, as part of a youth movement group.

Angeline & I met up at the City Hall MRT station and slowly made our way to the starting point at the fountain near the Esplanade Dr. What greeted us were a handful of youngsters mulling around the fountain, and another few (prolly less than 10) runners sitting around the fountain. We met up with the perpetually punctual Roentgen (such trait is close to extinct now! Really have to applaud him for keeping to this very rare but treasured trait in this day and age! *clap clap* to deposit our barang in his CRV (THANKS, Roentgen!).

We registered ourselves with the organiser, and were given each a runner's T. We changed into it and just chit chat and hung around a bit to wait for the run to start. Balasing arrived shortly after. By 8:25am we were asked to gather, and the leader of the group, Eric, explained to us about what this charity run is about and how we help by running etc. Looking around, realised that the group of runners were mainly junior college students probably lending their support through their own network of friends. The SGRunners of Peacefool, Eliza, Roentgen, Angel, Bala, Chip & myself were the only people of a different generation (haha). It was hilarious to have Eric flagged us off by emulating the sound of a horn and the group of youngsters sprinted off.

I knew I couldn't run fast so just kept to the back of the pack as best as I could. I felt that the speed of the front runners pulled everyone along and I was kinda worried that I would ponchet if i kept to their pace. The run was enjoyable, chuan, but full of laughter through-out all thanks to the great company of Roentgen & Bala. We got to the mid-way point in over 35mins I think, so I was quite surprised that at the "faster" pace we are still running at 7:30min pace ... We had to cross the overhead bridge to run along the other side of the road for the return route back to the starting point. It was dangerous at that stretch as we had to run along the road (as the pavement was closed for some construction) and in the flow of traffic! We were lucky as it was still early and the road was quiet, but it wouldn't be as safe for the 3rd wave runners we surmised (which Roentgen promptly fedback to Eric after our run). Picture shows one siao cha bo just after crossing the overhead bridge ...

We finished our run in 1hr 15mins thereabout, with Roentgen & Bala still FULL of energy and chatting away and giving live "commentaries" about the run while I was just struggling to keep up with them and panting away -____-". Not to forget that throughout the run, these 2 bois were slowing down (to take pictures) and speeding up (to catch up with the rest of us) at will!!!

Shortly after returning, Bala proceeded to join the 3rd wave runners for the flag off while the rest of us hung around and chit chat. Spoke to peacefool & zeus and the SGRunners group took several pictures while waiting for Bala to return. We could see the sky changing and threatening to open up and hence all of us helped to shift the runner goodie bags and the deposited bags to the nearby MRT shelter (Exit A). Bala returned minutes before the sky poured. Pity those road marshals and runners who were still making their way back. Hope they didn't catch a chill ! Some of these road marshalls also had bottles of newater with them! Oh no .. come to think of it, they still had to lug these bottles (if there were any left) back to the start point.

Think most (if not all) the runners contributed to this charity by buying a runner tag at $5 each. This tag is simply a piece of paper for us to write our encouragement to the beneficiaries (in this case, the impaired). Some of us donated more to lend support. Seems like they are still FAR from their target of <$10K. With just one more week to go, sincerely wish them the very best.

I personally think that it is the thought and effort that counts. This group of young men and women, busy with their school work, tests and exams, still find time to do good and organise this event. That is no mean feat! While others their age would be spending their spare time catching up on their rest, spending time with friends over a movie or meal, these people put their time to good use. Well done people! We have hope in our new generation ! *thumbs up*

OTOT Mini Tri

In keeping with the OSIM Tri this coming weekend, I also did my own mini tri today :P ... at my own time ... own target haha

Since I would be running on Sunday, so I didn't want to risk causing more pain to my shin by running my LSD on the usual Sat morning. Hence I decided to bring it forward to run on Fri nite instead.

Went for my usual swim this morning. Suppose to swim for 1.5 hours, a relax swim, but then overslept no thanks to my phone that once again failed on me!!! Haiz, really have to consider doing another hard reset, or to buy a new one liao ... argh ... really dun wish to waste $$. By the time I woke up was already 6+, thought I would have to skip my swim but realised I could still manage an hour's swim if I hurry ... and the rest is history ...
Pool is rather empty today ... so I had a relax and peaceful swim ... yay!

Lunchtime - went for a 55min spin. The usual instructor wasn't there. Disappointed. Second time I've been disappointed this week. The wed mrn instructor wasn't there too. So this week had to deal with 2 replacement instructors. I couldn't even remember who the wed instructor is. The instructor today wasn't very good. Though he warned us that the tracks today are tougher, it turned out otherwise. Not very challenging in fact!! Thankfully I didn't want to push myself today considering I still wanted to do my LSD in the evening, else I would have been even more disappointment. This guy still had some way to go in being fit enough to be an instructor. At one point he couldn't even shout out instructions to us ... perhaps he was trying to get us to be more attuned to the music ? I'm not sure ... but I sure wouldn't like him as my spin instructor lor ... aw well, need to give newbies more opportunities rite ? yes yes ...agree with that too ... :)

The boss is on leave this afternoon and so ... when the cat is away, the mouse comes out to play!!! NO GOV!! Yippeeee! By 4:30pm I was feeling kinda switched off, no mood to work already. My colleagues were worse. Two of them were discussing about non-work related stuff and viewing some online photos (think of someone's wedding photos -dunno why gals have to get all gaga over bridal stuff).

I was actually worried about whether I could run as my calves were feeling tight and I'm not sure whether I would be able to run the distance ... nonetheless I was keen to try out the route and so decided to heck it and see how far I could go. At most take a cab home halfway if I couldn't last the LSD ...

Initial plan was to start at my office building but due to the chilly weather, I was feeling cold and thought I would walk a bit to warm myself up. The high human traffic in CBD also didn't help. Started the run at One Fullerton ... passed the NDP floating platform. Wow, they had this huge screen projector and it was screening something though I couldn't make out what it is .. but am sure it is related to the NDP ... also had a live band playing beside the Esplanade. Sadly there weren't any audiences ...
Promenade was closed and so I had to run along the road .... Saw someone in the KL Pacesetters T when I was at the Kallang Sea Sports Club ... on closer inspection realised it was none other than Ronnie out on his night run. I called out to him, we didn't stop to say hi, but just acknowledged each other with a smile and prodded on. Good to see you, Ronnie! :)

The weather was very cooling and refreshing and that really made running so much more enjoyable and easy .... this is the only run that I was actually mentally plotting how to extend the distance instead of wondering how to complete it!!! Amazing!

I memorised the route I was to take prior to the run and so there weren't many hiccups ... instructions given by Teelee for the route were also very very clear ... and so I got to familiar ground (Potong Pasir) without much fanfare.

Ended the run in 1hr 57mins. Funny thing is, I thought I was running a faster pace today, and with fewer walk breaks, the distance covered tonight would be longer. I was expecting say 17+km. However, mapmyrun calculated my distance to be only 14.73km!!! Even if I were to add in some additional loop i had to make, it should be only about 15km. Disappointing! Aw well, it was a good run afterall. I had my yummy dinner before heading home.

Have to really really thank Teelee for plotting out the route for me. He even patiently explained to me the route and enlarged a portion of the map which he deemed would be more challenging and circled out landmarks for the Direction Retard (yours sincerely) to take note. That really really helped a lot and I basically memorised those landmarks and key roads to find my way back! THANKS Teelee!!! If not for the route Teelee provided, don't think my run home from office would have materialised!!! *bow* He also told me to give him a call if I were to get lost. So nice !! :) I'm blessed. :)

Also thanks to Loti for checking on me. She reminded me to have $$ and ezlink card with me and even sms-ed to check whether I managed to find my way home. THANKS gal!!! Very kind of you!!!

Taz was also very kind and said to call him if I got lost. *bow* THANKS di di!!!

Since last year, I had entertained the thought of running to work. Then when I was conditioned enough to do that, alas, I got injured. The idea was shelved for so darn long and I only finally managed to realise this dream tonight. I'm soooo happy! :)

Let's hope my legs stay A-Ok after this ... cross my fingers!

Calcium

It was only recently that I realised that running, due to its impact, helps to build stronger bones as the bones have to react to the impact placed upon it.

Regardless, it is good to ensure you have sufficient calcium in your diet. I'm lactose intolerant, which explains my not having milk in my diet. Have made a mental note to drink more soy milk and ..... I have good reason to indulge in ice cream!!!! Pass me the B&J! :P

Run

Managed to run a slow 8km on the treadmill this morning.

Sigh, my mileage is really a far cry from what I used to do, and the pace? Pitiful. But my shin pain just doesn't let up and its increasing in frequency. Argh ...

Will be doing the charity run this coming Sunday, so I would have to bring forward my LSD this week in order not to run on consecutive days and risk further injury. Planning to do my LSD this coming Fri evening. Should I run home from work ? Or should I run in home ground? *groan in boredom*

Two more days to ponder ... hmmmm ....

Surprise!

Worked slightly later today but at least I felt more achieved at work.

Was in for a surprise when I opened the door and found that family was waiting for me with cake & pressie!!! Wow! I didn't expect that!
Sis would be away for a couple of days and so they brought forward the celebration. I really wasn't expecting this so this gesture really cheered me up. Thanks for remembering ! Really meant a lot to me :) No, I never like to take things for granted :)

THANKS chei chei, chei fu, Eme & Fae for the surprise! :) Had a huge piece of the cake ... yumz! Ok, need to spin more :P

My niece wrote me a card on behalf of the family ... so cute lor .... its amazing how fast kids grow. I've watched her grown from the very day she was born ... and now look at her, she wrote me a card :D *proud*

while my nephew is just excited about eating the cake (a glutton just like his auntie! :P)

My birthday gift is an addidas top. Hope I can fit into it!!!! -__-"

Skiving ?

As you can see, i'm updating my blog ...

That's coz I'm feeling really really blue .....

SFS!!!

So many negative thoughts, so draining .... I need some happiness in life ... and where is my happiness ?

:(

Happy Occassion!

Sunday was a happy day with two good friends of mine starting their separate new chapters in life ....

One friend was baptised ...
while another held his customary wedding ...
must be an auspicious date! haha

To my friend who must have had a lot of booze last night seeing his flushed face (who asked u to say ur sabo that morning was chicken feet ?? orbi good! :P) .... CONGRATULATIONS!

Have a blessed marriage!
百年好合,早生贵子!

Church Service

The only time I've ever been to a church is to attend friend's wedding.
Can recalled three such occassions.

I was again invited to a church ... this time, not for a wedding, but for a friend's baptism.

I'm honoured to be invited and apart from my own unfamiliarity with the religion, I see no good reason not to attend just to lend support to this wonderful friend.

It was an eye opener for me. The church is big, clean and comfortable. The hymns they sing are easy to understand and soothing to the ears. I'm not a Christian (am a Buddhist) and I know nothing about the religion (ok, frankly, I dunno much about my own religion!) but I am a firm believer that it doesn't matter what religion one has, as long as the religion teaches one to do good, to be good. We should all learn to respect one another's religion and to co-exist peacefully. Its such a simple concept, but not sure why so many people out there just can't come to grips with this.

I can feel the sense of hope, faith, calm that the church service brings to the worshippers. Through the hymns, they seem to be recharged, to have found their solace and peace. Perhaps its the place, perhaps its the music ... but through this short session I somehow have a glimpse into why people would spend their Sunday mornings attending church. It probably helps them in many aspects ... to calm them down, to find answers in the daily grind ... to renew their faith, their strength to move on ?

At the start of the service, the pastor asked everyone to turn around to shake hands with the people around them and one man in front of me turned around, extended his hand and asked "Are you ready to receive God today?". I was stumped into silence ... errrr ... how to answer ah ? :P Thankfully my friend's friend who know me came to my rescue and told him that I was with my friend and the whole thing sort of fizzled out ... else it would have been tremendously embarrassing ... :P

And .... FIRST time in ACS compound. Its really nice and clean and big! Really a place for all the rich ! Their swimming pool! olympic size! How i wish I could just jump in for a few laps! :P

No wonder a colleague recently told me, getting their children into all these ivy league schools is really to establish contacts ... for their children, and for them. To allow their children to mingle with the future leaders and businessmen. -___-"

I'm not sure what to say to my friend who has found her path, and her religion. I'm very happy for her. Congratulations my dear friend *HUGZ*

YCK Run

By Friday night I still had no motivation to run nor where to run, so decided NOT to run on Saturday.

Planned to run on Sunday early morning before I head out for my morning appointment. Even slept very early to make sure I would be up and about early. Woke up at 5+ and it was raining ... darn. My morning run plans were thrown out the window. Frustrated.

After the morning activity, decided to head home. Undecided whether to head out for a run since the weather was looking really freaky (rain one minute, sun out the next ... argh!) and was feeling hungry too. Of course, the tummy wins and I had lunch, went to bed (pig ah!).

Woke up at 3:30pm and thought the sun was out, so didn't want to run under the hot sun. Checked again at 3:40pm and the sky seemed overcast ... decided to heck it and head out for a run. A short run I told myself, since I always felt a burning sensation in my lungs each time i run in the afternoon, and also because I had another event to attend in the evening.

Told myself to be disciplined today, NO deviation from my route, NO covering further just to look-see, just to explore, NO extension of time since I did not have the luxury to dilly dally.

Started the run at few minutes past 4, and ran along Yio Chu Kang Road, past Jln Kayu. It was astraight route all the way to Upper Thomson, turning right towards Tagore Dr before u-turning to head back. When I started the run, it was actually a bit sunny and I actually felt the sunlight and feeling a little burning sensation in my lungs ... but by the time i reached Upper Thomson, the sky had turned dark. But it was a good weather to run and refreshing, at one stretch I was even feeling cold!

Regardless, I was dripping wet by the time I was on the return leg ... completely soaked from my own perspiration although it was such a cool weather. I wondered whether the motorists on the road were thinking what this siao cha bo was doing struggling with her run all drenched :P

Managed to return to the starting point 1hr 48mins later, covering about 15.4km.

My very simple route here.

Ponchet Run

Decided to just stick to home ground and run around HSP.

Was a very ponchet run .... run/walk was very consistent. I had to stop to walk every 8 to 10 mins although my pace was very slow. So sad.

Bumped into Cokie again but this time near the TPE ... he didn't notice me until I waved to him as he passed me at the traffic light. Think he was surprised haha ...

Total distance covered should be less than 15km. Total time taken was 3 hours because I spent an hour walking home!!! Tried to run/walk back but legs were like lead and I just couldn't run anymore. Frankly, I've never felt that way about my legs, dunno why. I really wonder how I did 27km LSD previously, taking almost 4 hours. How did I do that in the past ??

But ok lah, at least I got out to run rather than rot at home ... since its home ground, not very keen to plot the route.... but should have covered 14km ba ... so sad, mileage so low and yet time taken is so freaking longggggg

Weekend ...

came early for me this week.

Due to the shin pain, I managed to book an appointment for this afternoon. Since the appointment was at 4:30pm, I squeezed in a swim before heading towards Tampines.

Been wanting to check out the Hokkaido Fare at Tampines Mall so decided to head there since it was still early. Wow, didn't know the place could be so packed even on a weekday afternoon! The Hokkaido Fare, which occupied the small atrium in the mall, was thronged with foodies. There were ramen, dried seafood stuff, butter cake, those octopus balls, rice cake, ice cream etc. Well, I tried their rice cake coated with red bean and wasn't impressed. There were many other stuff to try but it was just too packed and also freaking expensive, and nothing that I die die would like to try, so didn't get anything else. Well, at least my wallet can heave a sigh of relief haha

First time I had to wait for an hour just to see the doc!!! Geez! Thankfully I was occupied with reading the papers else it would have been such a waste of time. I updated doc that I experienced pain recently and asked whether I could have an x-ray done. Thankfully he was more than agreeable and THANKFULLY I wasn't too late for an x-ray as it was close to their knock off time! -____-" Seriously, if they tell me the x-ray dept is closed for the day, I would have really wasted my leave which I was desperately trying to save.
Anyway, x-ray came out ok. Doc said my shin splint had not worsened and its unlikely that it had recurred after healing (most likely it is still trying to heal itself). I'm just glad that I could still continue to run (doc said ok, and suggested i increase the frequency of my run rather than up my mileage on my current 2 runs per week). And I'm also glad that the pain should not have been caused by my spin classes. Whew! At least I don't have to worry each time I turn up the resistance knob during spin class. :P

Doc however asked about my diet (prolly think i too bui liao so the weight is taking its toll on my legs :P) and to run a bone marrow test on me to determine my bone density. He said calcium deficiency may contribute to my long-living injury. Hmmmm ... well, I told him I don't drink milk but I do take yoghurt. Anyway, will go for the test and let him assess thereafter.

Its the weekend liao ... I'm gonna enjoy it for now ... and I'm sure I will suffer from even more serious Monday Blues later ... but nevermind, worry about that later.

Let's hope I will have the discipline to go for a run tomorrow ...

Angel's BD Celebration

Ok, this came a bit late but I've been busy ... :P

A few of us had a small dinner to celebrate Angel's BD on Thursday. We met up at Bishan Junction 8. Initially wanted to go Swensen's for dinner but they don't accept reservations for dinner after 6:30pm -_-" Come to think of it I think I remembered some stupid rule like this in Swensen when I made a similar reservation last year for someone else's bd celebration. Ok lah, no major loss since Swensen isn't that great anyway haha

So the bunch of us had dinner at Ajisen Jap Restaurant. I ordered the Volcano Ramen which was supposed to be extremely spicy but it turned out to anything but. The meal was alright, nothing to rave about, but the company more than made up for it.

Frankly, I was feeling a little sian due to some matters that cropped up shortly before I was suppose to leave office to meet the gang, and was contemplating skipping the gathering. But I was glad I went ahead because during the short time together with this bunch of easy going folks, I was able to just laugh and chuck whatever unpleasant matters aside momentarily.

Thanks to fried noodles who helped to shop for the gifts for Angel. I am proud to say I have arrowed the right person for the job. Since they are both of about the same age, I figured she should be able to find stuff that will suit Angel's taste. Getting an auntie like me to buy for Angel will be a big mistake lor ... hahahaha :P

We then proceeded to Secret Recipe for dessert. Everyone was stuffed from dinner -___- but was thankfully game enough to order one slice of chocolate banana cake to share. I asked for a candle for the cake as I explained it was a friend's birthday. Lo and behold, when the cake came,we were appalled to see that the cake was just carelessly laid on its side on the plate, with the candle on top! I would have expect the slice of cake to be standing tall on the plate lor!!! And what's worse, the candle wasn't even lighted!! I mentioned that to the waitress/manager who served the cake and guess what she replied?? "Now non-smoking, cannot light candle" and she dare to reply in this matter-of-fact way. WTFFFFFFFFFF!!! I felt like throwing the cake on her face!!! And she just turned and walked away nonchalantly after that stupid reply. I managed to gesture to another waitress who promptly came out with a lighter to light the candle. She had this look of disbelief too when she saw our unlighted candle. haha
If not for this waitress who was extremely polite and patient with me, I would have black-listed this branch.

(left) Our BD gal with her unlit candle ....

(right) Make a wish and blow out the candle ... look at our super-photogenic babe :)

All in all, it was a good session to catch up and have some laughs over a mid-week dinner. Thanks for the company all and most important of all, Happy Birthday to Angel! :)

Shin Pain

I'm feeling the pain even when I spin. This is bad, really a bad sign.

Now I'm wondering whether it is due to my spin that is aggravating my injury. Oh no ... does it mean downtime again ?

In retrospect you will know that it would have been better to take a break, but right now i really do not wish to slow down and stop my spin/run. Sian.

Ok, this is serious enough for me to not just whine. I'm gonna make an appointment in CGH to get an X Ray done on my shin.

Wish me luck.....

Respect!

I was at a lift lobby (not at my office building) waiting for the lift with a few men who were there before me. When the lift door opened, it was actually quite crowded inside. I was thinking to just wait for the next lift when one of the men, a well dressed middle aged man actually gestured to let me into the lift first! Wah! such chivalry shown by .. an uncle!! Its a very small gesture but I'm happy to say at least chivalry is indeed not dead (at least not for this uncle who btw has a Mont Blanc clipped to his shirt pocket). What a nice thing to do .... while everyone rushed to get into the lift, considering they have waited longer than me for the lift, it sure is a surprise to have someone actually paused to let me in first. Wah .... RESPECT for this uncle *bow*

_______________________________________________________

I went to buy a new pair of shoes for my daily work wear. Already owned a pair but decided to get a black pair since I walk around in them so often. Might as well get another pair to last me another 6 months or more then I need not worry about buying shoes for another 6 months. The same salesgirl whom I bought from the other time was there and lo and behold, she recognised me!!!! I was there previously with another friend and she said she recognised me and remembered that I went with a friend! She even remembered I tried another pair of shoes then ! Wow! I couldn't believe it lor. This is really superb memory !
RESPECT to her too!

This is not good ....

Another Monday .... Another BLUE Monday ....

can't wait for it to end .... and its only the start of the day .... geezzz!

Smile for a Mile

Another charity run ...
check it out ...

SGRunners' 2nd Anniversary

The 2nd anniversary was held on this very memorable date - 07/07/07. Shwee!

I was half expecting to not know 75% of the people who turned up since I haven't been active in the forum nor any of the sgrunners' events for so long since I got injured. When it was time to move my butt outta the house, I was actually seriously thinking to skip the event.

Thankfully for Teelee who offered to pick me up (THANKS dude! You are always soo kind! *bow*), Charmane, Teelee & I reached the chalet at about 15 mins past 4. While on our way to the chalet, we saw caterers busy setting up for a wedding ceremony!!! A bit odd lor to us, to hold their wedding here ...

We easily spotted the SGRunners' chalet all thanks to the banner. Many of the SGRunners' were already there, busy choosing the new polo t-shirt that was on sale. Seen many faces that I haven't seen in a long while. TLR, Fd, Sotong, Cyberkinetic, Tiwazz, Philip, Brokie, Bee, Ronnie, Sxuanjing just to name a few. I wasn't really in a very chatty mood so didn't really go up to anyone to try and strike up a conversation. Nonethess is still good to see everyone looking well :)

There were games (which I didn't join as I wasn't properly attired - coz I never read the forum lah didn't know I was suppose to wear my running shoes -_-") which have very attractive prizes! $600 addidas product vouchers for the top prize. $400 and $200 for the 1st & 2nd runner-ups respectively. Wow! Wow!!! :)

I was tasked to hand out game #2 - some word game so had to go around mingling. Got to talk to Jamesoh whom I haven't seen in a while too, who was chatting with Gugugaga. So ok, indirectly got to know someone new in SGRunners.

After food, more yakking, prize presentation for the winners of the games (Charmane won 2 prizes for both games! Well done gal! Loti & Tigger was the 1st runner up for the first game thus winning the Addidas voucher. Wooo hooo! Well done folks!), TLR handed out the certificate of participation to the runners for the races that they have participated in 2006/7.

Really had to hand it to the SGRunners' moderators for putting in all the effort to put this whole event together. From the organising of the chalet, food, games and the certificate printing. It really is a lot of work and everything was well carried out. Thanks so much!! :)

I enjoyed myself just sitting there, stoning while seeing some familiar faces and catching up a bit here and there. Also had a good time catching up and "bitching" with my "bitch-kaki" Charmane. Thanks for the company gal! Also happy to see Angel, still so sweet & pretty as always, Eunice (this gal is so bubbly and energetic. 07/07/07

What a special date today. It dawned on me that today is such a special day when I was jolted out of my slumber by this incessant horning from downstairs. I sprung out of bed to rush to the window to find out what the commotion was about (is there a fire?!?! or some other emergency) when my sis told me it was just a wedding car. -_____________________-" Oh yes, one of the best dates to get married - 07/07/07 (and next year 08/08/08 etc).

While still holed up in bed, after settling down from the initial shock (that's the benefit of exercise. It brings your racing heartbeat down very quickly), I was thinking what special thing I should do for myself to commemorate such a special date. A date that I can remember by. Since I wouldn't be married today, hmmmm ... what should I to remember this date .... hmmm ... must think some more.

Oh well, at least the day started wonderfully. I dragged myself out of bed close to 7. Was really STRUGGLING to decide whether I should head out for a run. I have no routes in mind, no motivation to run and worse of all, I'm not sure whether I should considering I've been feeling shin, ankle, calve pain lately. I changed only to realise that the sky is still suspiciously dark ... almost ominous. Hmmm .... glimmer of hope that I might not need to run afterall. Not to risk getting drenched 5 mins into a run, I decided to read the papers and observe the weather conditions. True enough, 10 mins later it started to rain. Wooo hoooo! I wasted no time retreating into the warm comforts of my bed. Good start to 07/07/07. :P

Will be heading to the SGRunner's 2nd anniversary later. In the meantime, I shall continue to rot, and think of what nice thing to do for myself today.

Hmmmmm ....

While its raining .....

... and I am snuggled comfortably in bed ...
... and I can skip the morning LSD (especially when I'm not looking fwd to it) ...
... and its a weekend and I need not go to work ...
... and I can go back to sleep ...
... this is when I feel ...
...
...
Life is Wonderful!!!

Bitter Stickgirl

Pictures transcends all words & languages ... they know no boundaries ...
How you relate to the drawings, is also dependent on how you feel at that point in time, and your experiences in life ... it does have an impact on how you interpret what you see ...

I can relate to many of her drawings ...

Return to My Roots Run

Sunday has now become my SLACK and NUAH and super PIG-OUT days. Gone are the days I would hit the gym for a swim ... the thought of travelling all the way to town just isn't as appealing as staying snuggled up under my blanket watching TV and rotting away :P

The sky was threatening to give way throughout the entire day. It was dark one moment and then bright and sunny the next. Really very unpredictable weather! Anyway, after a nap I decided to just head out for a short run before pigging out (as I had grand plans about having a yummy dinner).

I just wanted a short run so decided to just run around the neighbourhood. Haven't run HSP for a while ... seems like a darn long time ago ... so I call this my return to my roots run haha ...

As usual I vary my route a little and ended the run after an hour, covering about 9km. Not bad, thought at my slow pace and feeling damn ponchet throughout, I would cover at max 8km.

Gulped down 2 bottles of mineral water and run/walk a bit before I finally gave up at the park connector.

I was so not looking fwd to having my dinner at the usual food court near my place as they serve quite lousy food, so was happy to see the food court at the nearby Hougang Green.

I'm happy to report the food court there serves pretty decent ban mian. Yes, my grand plans about pigging out sort of fizzled out after the run. Think age is catching up with me. I used to feel starved right after a run, but not anymore.

Few more hours to another dreary week ...

Wordpress

Trying out a new blog tool - Wordpress.

Very easy to use, and I like its ability to password protect any one blog entry.

Playing with it a lil more and see how it goes ...

You are invited to check out my new blog but be warned that its very EMPTY right now ... haha
