Hair For Hope 2006

Since 2003, the Children's Cancer Foundation (CCF) has been organising the Hair For Hope event, where courageous and altruistic people shaved their heads to raise funds for the charity. They have raised a total of $150K through this event. You can read more about this here.

A friend of mine, an ex-classmate, has been one of the pioneers who shaved his head each year to support this event. This would be his fourth year doing it.

This year, CCF included an online pledge that allows donors to donate over the web. If you find CCF a worthy cause, and would like to donate to CCF, and also to support my friend, who has been a keen volunteer with CCF for several years now, pls make a contribution here. No matter what amount you pledge, it will make a difference to a child in CCF.

Many times, I whine and sigh about the unhappiness that I face. Reading about and being explosed to some of the charity organisations always help me put things into perspectives. We are blessed with good health and we can do practically whatever we want. We can jog, and have fun. There are however many people out there who do not get to enjoy such luxury. It saddens me to know there are many kids plagued with life threatening diseases. I've interacted with some of them when I volunteered briefly (and i have to emphasize BRIEFLY) at CCF and frankly, I marvelled at their optimism and their strength. These kids continue to lead happy and enriching life despite their illnesses. These kids truly need our support. So let's do what we can to help them.

Have you done a good deed today? If not, what are you waiting for ?
:)
