I was really looking forward to the dinner yesterday and frankly that was what helped keep me going through the day (hehe). Having something to look fwd to surely helps brighten the day :P I even made it clear to my colleague whom I have a mtg with at 5pm that I have to leave at 6pm! :P That's how much importance I placed on this dinner! hehehe I rushed to Bishan Junction 8 to meet up with the double Ls (one was busy window shopping while waiting for me! win liao!) to pick up a gift for BOP & mom. We spent some time selecting the gift at Watsons (picked up a box of Birds' Nest) and was about to pay when we saw this mini Birds' Nest cum Chicken Essence hamper pack. Seeing that it looks cute and presentable (the plastic was torn and one of the staff reassured us that they can easily re-packed the hamper for us and that they have just sold one other hamper to another customer after re-wrapping it, we decided to go for this hamper instead. While making payment, I asked the staff to start re-wrapping the hamper as we were in a hurry. The next few minutes passed with the 3 of us looking dumbfounded (more like disgusted too) while watching the 2 staff ATTEMPTED to wrap the hamper. It is OBVIOUSLY their first time doing it and they were doing a super lousy job trying to wrap it. They clumpsily tried to wrap the gift and really made the hamper looked extremely unpresentable. Unable to bear with the sight any longer, we decided to abort mission and told the staff that the hamper looked worse than its original form and that we would pay for some other gift instead. The staff then offered to re-wrap it again and not wanting to seem too stone-hearted, we decided to give them another try (while the clock was still ticking away and we were running late!). Their 2nd attempt wasn't any better and all 3 of us actually helped with the wrapping! Imagine all 5 of us crowding around a table wrapping the hamper! *shake head*

We were late in reaching BOP's place and SMoSK, who left the office at 7, was already sitting comfortably at the couch flipping through BOP's old pics. We greeted BOP's mommy who had so kindly cooked us a very sumptious dinner and swiftly settled down for the dinner. There was fish, lettuce with pork floss, chicken soup, curry prawns, chicken with mushroom & black fungus, pork ribs with bittergourd, sea cucumber and bak kwa! Wah seh! What a spread! *super lau nua* Look at the fish, YUMZZZZ!!! I love tomatoes! :P
The food was yummilicious and I particularly like the pork ribs with bittergourd! I think I finished most of the bittergourd :P The chunky pork ribs were tender ... so heavenly!
For dessert / snacks, we had jellos made specially by BOP (nice texture! V lovely!), ice cream (both Ls sharing one -_-"), organic wafers and wasabi peas (my fav!!!). So over dessert, snacks, we chatted some more while looking at BOP's old pictures, all neatly filed, with captions and all. So organised!! :)
I really had a very very good time last nite. Its been a VERY long time since I have had a home cooked meal and I felt (and still do!) very fortunate and honoured to be invited to this dinner. THANK YOU so much, BOP!! For the dinner & the warm hospitality!!!). And THANKS to the wonderful company I had last night. The conversation was easy flowing, relaxed and we had lots of laughs over silly jokes (special thanks to the double Ls haha). That's the beauty of having friends whom you are comfortable with, there are no awkward silences, just easy banter, idle chit chat punctuated by occassional silences but again followed up with more laughter. I left the place feeling very happy and contented (does that sound very silly ? I dunno haha) and wide awake! Must be my tummy working OT to digest all the yummy food !! haha
Its occasion like this that reminds me that it doesn't take very much for one to be happy. All we need is just to find the things that make us happy and contented, whatever that might be.

I must second the HUGE THANKS to BOP for the warm and wonderful home-cooked meal! Kam Sia to BOP and BOP's mommy :D
Learnt at least two things from that evening... one is that the company of good friends is a soothing balm for the soul. The second is that wrapping a hamper is not as easy as it looks! :P haha...
