Mooncakes from Li Bai, Raffles Hotel, Raffles The Plaza, Marriot Hotel - i have had the privilege to sample from these hotels. But I have to say, although I have a very sweet tooth, I still have not acquired the taste of all these high class mooncakes. I find them too rich, too dense, and toooo exotic in taste to my liking.
I still like my traditional, cheapo mooncakes that can be easily bought from some of those age-old traditional cake shops. Few weeks back The Sunday Times Lifestyle section had a feature on the top few traditional mooncake shops, but I lost the article. Thankfully with a stroke of luck, while talking to cfred, he helped me track down the same article online!!! THANKS cfred!!!!
So here it is, the traditional mooncakes. Thanks to aichai who so kindly bought the CBD runners 2 boxes of the Da Zhong Guo mooncakes. THANKS aichai!! I have tried the top of the list. Will try to buy the teochew ones from Far East Square, Geylang Lor 27 and Beach road. I just love these mooncakes. Anyone else interested ? :)
