Anihowz Run

As usual, suffering from the Monday Bluez. Feeling kinda down and some unhappy memories crept in sucking the energy out of me. Not to mention a hectic day at work with back to back meetings, by the time I'm done at work, its 7pm!! Needless to say, walking to the gym couldn't be furthest from my mind (I really got to sign up for a gym nearest to my workplace - sigh, $$$$$ :( )

Teelee, who was going to do a recovery run, was kind enough to wait for me to get home and do the run together. Started the run at 8pm and realised my HRM wasn't registering my HR. 1 min into the run, my HRM hang!!! Wah lau eh! Just the day before a few of us were just discussing about how common a problem it is that our POLAR HRM hang and it has to happen to me again!!! I just did a good week of workout the week before, hitting 180+% of my weekly calorie expenditure (ok ok, i know how inaccurate it is, but I just like to indulge myself in such fantasy that i'm working hard :P) and with the reset of my HRM, all information was gone!!! :( Had to spend the next few minutes trying to run & reconfigure my HRM.

My body wasn't responding well to the slow run and my legs were aching and feeling really heavy. Really hate this kind of feeling as it would mean that I wouldn't be able to run well at all. Teelee was facing similar problems, complaining that all his running form is haywire, he felt tired, and the worse is he seemed to have hit a wall. That he has no motivation and was worried how he could regain his motivation ... any kind souls out there who could advise him pls ?

We had no routes in mind and didn't know where to run. So I suggested we just run where our legs take us (and hence the name of this run). We would make a decision where to go at each junction, each crossroad (which is what I normally do during my lone runs in the past). We ran straight from my place to AMK, ran around NYP, entered a side gate to cut the distance and hit the AMK industrial park. We then took the Yio Chu Kang road back and even ran into some quiet residential area with many newly renovated houses (it seems). The area is quiet and seem so tranquil at night. We ended the run at Hougang Point for dinner.

Ordered dinner and the stall helpers (both of Chinese origin) asked me whether i had just exercised, and since they speak with such a thick accent, I had difficulties deciphering what they were saying to me or asking me. Not sure whether they said I should exercise more to lose weight or why i exercise and still look so big or watever. Ah well..... Then one of them even commented i should run longer, coz i don't seem to be sweating -_-" What the (#_$*(@(#*((*( Do I have to be subjected to all these crappy banter for a bowl of noodles ???

Anyway, it took me 10km to finally warm up my body sufficiently to run, but that was already the end of the run. Total time taken : 1hr 17mins.

Always feels much better after a run. I think I'm hooked to running on weekday nights. This is the reason why i like running now, running with friends help to clear your head, forget the daily struggles of life, the unhappiness or sian-ness that hit you unknowingly ... all these negative thoughts just seemed to be left behind as your legs bring you forward. Its rather symbolic really, moving forward and leaving the baggage behind. Therapeutic, isn't it ?

Thanks Teelee for the company, I know the pace is way too slow for u, even as a recovery run .... *bow*

wah! u all run so much....rest too little is it? actually running at nite is more stressful than running in the morning becos u have expelled a lot of energy during the 10-12hrs since u wake up before u run......

take one more day of rest might be good or change to do other exercises like swimming or cycling or even walking

just some worthless thought

hmm..feeling tired? the air these couple of nights have been pretty bad...due to the haze or somethin.. I felt it too the last couple of night runs I had.

Looking forward to post-run activities always provide the motivation to finish a good run. Good food and company always works!

Keep it up! Jia You!
