Weekend Blog

Feeling tired from the hectic 2 days haha ... just woke up from a nap, had my dinner and about to start blogging and realised .... i'm brain dead :P so unlike tradition when I would blog by day, decide to condense everything into one blog ... oh no, i'm catching Teelee's lazy-to-blog bug :P

Sat - Cfred's birthday celebration. We (cfred, teelee, roentgen, loneshark, cosmic, kay, shutehelup) had jap buffet at suki sushi at Orchard Cineleisure. I have never been to suki sushi so must thank teelee for that suggestion. Service was slow, queue was super long (but we didn't wait coz we were directed to Orchard from Selegie because that outlet just didn't have space for 8 of us), food was ok. We were seated right at the entrance (well, we can't be choosers when we did not have to queue, and 2 tables for 4 each have been reserved for us) and we could see the tv showing all the movie previews. Roentgen asked how we could be at Orchard Cineleisure and not catch a movie ?

So off we went to collect our race packs from Toa Payoh Safra. Thankfully there wasn't a crowd and we breezed through our collection. The guys were stuck at the Safra Running Club station, considering whether to sign up as a member and enjoy the perks like reimbursement of a portion of the registration fees for Mizuno, AHM and SCSM. Not to forget the discounts for some of the shoes! There was also a counter selling Motorola phones with one gold one from Dolce & Gabana! We commented that we dun really like gold and the salesman actually said we could just buy the phone for display at home (Hahlo!!! Wake up!!! *roll eyes*)

With our race packs securely under our arms, we headed back to Orchard Cineleisure to catch the comedy "Click". Been wanting to watch that show so am glad that I managed to catch it. Fried noodle (charmane) who was not able to join us for the lunch, joined us for the movies. The movie was alright, about this universal remote controller that allows the lead actor (in this case Adam Sandler) to skip through mundane or unpleasant events in his life. Except that the remote controller actually learns his habits and automatically helps him to skip through many life events so much so that he missed many major events in his own life (e.g. growing up years of his children, the passing of his dad, losing his wife to someone else etc.) Some of the jokes were pretty lame (*yawns*) but all in all I still find the show pretty alright (hey! I didn't fall asleep! hooray!) with several touching scenes.

Angeline joined us after the movies for dinner (wah, seem to be hanging out more with youngsters now ! ) before calling it a night in preparation for the NBRR the following day.

Was a simple bd celebration for cfred, hope he enjoyed himself. Many happy returns to him and may he be happy always!

Sun - NBRR
I felt like I was going NBRR for the run as I was out of the house, travelling to Sentosa at the same time as some actual runners (saw a couple in running gear on the same bus or walking toward the train station). The road leading to Sentosa was jam packed by the time we (charmane, teelee, loneshark and myself) were there and we were lucky to get to the starting point before the flag off. Am happy to see so many familiar faces and managed to take a few pics of some of them before the horn sounded and they went on their way.

I wanted to cheer the sgrunners on at the mid point and so wanted to station myself at the end of the beach leg, where they will likely be most tired. Charmane & charlotte were kind enough to accompany me, the DR, along. However, 10 minutes into the walk we reckoned we were not gonna make it in time and so backtracked and stationed ourselves at the end of the trail, just 500m from the finishing line. Am disappointed to miss taking shots of ultraman and TLR as they were too fast (or I'm too slow in my reflexes) and whizzed past before I could take a pic of them. Subsequently did my best to take as many of the sgrunners as possible, but I still missed some (e.g. cfred, balasing, and many more - apologies to them).

We took some group pics and proceeded to Tanjong Beach where sv organised a picnic. Some went for a dip, some played frisbee and beach volleyball and the rest including yours truly simply sat around and nua. Got to thank sv for organising. charmane for the drinks, loneshark for the bread and daisiki for the ham. Thanks all!

We later had our real lunch at Harbour front food court before returning home for our rest.

Chao-da liao ...

Tink I need to sleep more, feeling very zombie ...
